It is possible to change the "System" setting on these cards?

I am in a coverage hole and my mobile phone (VZW) shows "Extended Network" so I am on Sprint's network (Confirmed by Sprint Emp.) when at home. It appears that the card is in "Home Only" mode.

If not I guess my only other option is to jump to Sprint.

Thanks,
Bryan

Correct National/Broadband access is only within the areas on the map that verizon has on the site. You can not "roam" or go on to another network and get that service.

You may not be EVDO with Sprint in you area either, you may just get the slower connection... you'll want to verify with them before you buy.

Yes,
I am aware of the roaming issues, and technically I am not roaming, just in a 1 sq. mile of a coverage black hole with regards to Verizon. I worked with the Perf. Engineers for that last week and they confimed that my house is in a known weak signal area (read non-existant). I am in a depression in the landscape that only gives me line of sight to one tower and that happens to be a Sprint tower. Luckily for me Sprint is CDMA or I would have no service at all. I was hopeful that I there would be an undocumented 1x sharing agreement with Verizon and Sprint, throw the card into auto A or B and pick up a signal. Guess not.

Sucks to be me.....I am thinking the Broadband Gods have thrown a curse on me.

I feel your pain Bryan. I have used satellite services for the last two years because that was my only option and switched to EVDO recently. (I love the mobility of it.)

If ISDN/DSL/Cable are not options and EVDO coverage misses you, it does not leave much except satellite (provided you have a southern exposure.)

One option a friend of mine is toying with is to set his broadband up at a neighbors residence and use wi-fi to tap into it... he has not tried this yet, but if he gets desparate, I'm sure he will.

Good Luck,
Woody

Update here:
I went over to the Sprint store and picked up a 580. I now get full signal -68dbm all the way home in a place where my VZW phones go "No Service". I am typing this to you now over the Sprint connection inside my house with an unboosted signal of -92dbm. I think I have a winner. I only get 100k or so down, but it is better that dial-up. I can't wait until they roll out EV-DO here in the Puget Sound.

Thanks for all of you help and suggestions.

Bryan
