I ordered my U720 a few weeks ago, things have been working (fairly) well since then. So well that my mother-in-law, who lives only a mile or so from me, also ordered one after seeing my success.

Now my U720 will no longer connect (I get a Error 678, Remote Computer Does Not Respond). I called my MIL to ask her if her Sprint was working, she said it was working just fine. I grabbed my U720 and drove the mile to her place to compare the U720s.

With her U720 plugged in, she gets a -64dBm signal, and just within the last few days it now even shows her on Rev A (which is new, and that's great for her).

I unplug her U720, plug mine in, and it never shows better than a -78dBm signal, no RevA, and still won't connect. What the heck? I always assumed her better signal was due to location (though we only live a mile apart, out in open farmland). But maybe my U720 has been having trouble all along?

I upgraded the Connection Manager and firmware for both U720s on the same day about a week ago after reading about it here. I had no trouble afterwards, and neither did she.

So in short, I am still getting the same (weak) signal as I always did, but can not connect. Also, why would her U720 show RevA, and mine doesn't, from the same PC/location?

This is getting very frustrating!

Kevin

EDIT: I brought my MIL's U720 home with me, plugged it in, and immediately got connected (and even with RevA!). My U720 still won't connect. So it's gotta be the unit. I have had it a month...ack.

Wholeheartedly agree that the next normal course of action here would be to contact Sprint.

However, since Forcefed is a customer of ours that resulted in sale of two devices and an antenna, we will make an exception here. Instead of having to deal only with sprint, we want to do right by our customers.

We'll be contacting Forcefed offline to discuss options available to us.

I hope no one construed my post as a slam against the people at booster-antenna...far from it. Their customer service from day 1 has been outstanding. It's why I had no reservations recommending them when my MIL wanted to order. They are way better than going to a local Sprint store.

I had contacted Sprint last night, before I posted. I spoke to them twice actually, both times they really had no advice. I also searched the forum before posting, hoping maybe I missed something. But once I exhausted what I knew to do, that's when I posted.

I talked to Alex this morning, and the also again to Sprint. Sprint had me try a few things, but nothing worked. It really was acting like something was wrong with my account, but they claimed the account was fine.

So Alex and I talked about RMAing the device, as a last ditch effort. I was getting ready to walk out the door to ship the device back, and figured I would give it one more shot before boxing it up. I tried my U720, still didn't work, plugged in my MIL's U720, immediately connected at RevA. For some reason I decided to try mine one more time (even pulled it back out of the box), and don't you know it...connects (and now at RevA). Question I was happy, but very confused about it. Maybe someone at Sprint is pulling my chain, and it was the account all along?

All I know is, now it's working as well as my MIL's, and I don't want to jinx it. Wink I will test it and keep an eye on it to see how the rest of the day goes.

Again, my post was never trying to put a negative light on booster-antenna, those guys have been amazing over the last month and a half. Customer service like theirs is RARE nowadays, it deserves praise.

Nope. You didn't mention them in your original post.

Rereading it I would assume you are using Windows.

Second assumption, you did not mention reinstalling software before inserting your ML's card so we can assume it would use what you have currently installed and just send out its own identification info just as your card does.

So, the problem appears to be with your card. Your recent update may have changed a preference or two or else the card needs a repair or replacement.

One rule of thumb in electronics is that a critical highly expensive part will fail in order to protect a not so critical really cheap part. Wink

DUN error 678 can be so many things....enter it into Microsoft's KB and see all of the possible causes. But from the t/s I have performed, re-creating the DUN is the first thing you would want to do, followed by doing the activation wizard and ##data.
