Great idea Michael. Just one comment for now. Is the dBm entry working? It does not seem to display anything right now on any entry. I've tried a couple different values so far and no luck and I do not see a value in any one else's entry. Minor bug in the code perhaps? Not a complaint, just trying to help out. _________________ Reach, Connect, Celebrate, Grow, Serve. |

| Nice idea. No Alltel? I suppose they could be added under Sprint since they essentially share the same coverage now. Alltel does have significant unique coverage in several states though. |

Keep the ideas coming.
It looks like there is a bug in "dBm". If you enter as a positive number vs a negative, it will display correctly.
So for now, just enter the dBm as a positive number. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| I put down sprint because there was no alltel. I also tried to edit my posting because when I made it I was at work on hughesnet and I didnt have a link for speedtest. So edit would be a nice function. |

Might I recommend adding a "best results" feature?
-Best Download
-Best Upload
-Best Latency
-Best Overall Connection
It's just an idea. |

Just for the heck of it I created a new Filemaker 8 database and a url field to store the png url. Then a one line script to open that in a web browser. Then a field to drag the png into to store it in Filemaker. It all worked.
So, now if I continue to have any interest in this I will add fields for date, location, etc. to identify what I did.
Now if I could just get the gps data...
Would any of this be useful for your project?
Update:
I played a bit with Filemaker 8.5 which has a new web browser in a Filemaker feature and elimited an external browser altogether. The graphic shows up in the little browser on the Filemaker layout.
Note that since I have the Developer version I can create a runtime version for people who don't have 8.5. |

Love the idea and I hope it works out well.
ACS Alaska provides my EVDO service. Unfortunately, I can't contribute because ACS isn't listed as a provider. While I realize that Verizon and Sprint cover the majority of EVDO subscribers in the country, there are other providers (from Alltel on down) that would be worth including in the carrier choices. At the least, there should be an "Other" option where you can type in your own provider. (A list of worldwide EVDO providers, including ones in the U.S., is available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVDO#EV-DO_Service_Providers.)
A feature to post the location of cellular towers might be nice, too. I got confirmation from an ACS tech of where the two nearest EVDO towers are to me in Anchorage (the Dimond Center and the University Mall--I'm surprised they work decently even though both of those are several miles away from me). |

Nice idea...
Just added Okeechobee and Dania Florida.
One feature you might add would be 3 popup selections for computer type, platform and card used. |

| I would suggest actually dropping Sprint and Verizon 1XRTT information. 1XRTT coverage is pretty comprehensive for both operators and adding it to EVDOmaps clutters the site. |
