|
|
I'm having problems getting a Verizon V620 card to work in a Dell D620. When I insert the card, I get two new devices (both labeled "NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller") that appear in the USB section of the System Device Manager. They show up as disabled because there aren't enough free resources ("code 12"). Other than that, the card is not recognized by the machine even though I've installed the drivers.
The laptop is running WinXP SP2. I've tried disabling some other hardware (the SmartCard reader through Device Manager and the printer, serial and IR ports through BIOS) thinking it might free up some resource, but to no avail. I've tried two different Verizon cards, both with the same result. I know other people at my company using other Verizon cards (PC5?00) with this same laptop model and build of the OS who don't have any problems.
Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. |

What model of notebook is it?
This is important because some dell models are not compatible with your PCMCIA adapter. I can help you look it up. Or it might be faster to look it up in the manual.
Goto support.dell.com and click on manuals and either enter your service tag number or the model of your notebook it will bring up the owners manual, from there look for "specifications." It will tell you what type of CardBus you have.
If you have a Texas Instruments CardBus then you may just have to update the drivers, but if it is a ricoh CardBus then you will have to get a usb adapter or exchange your express card for a PCMCIA card. In either case if you exchange your express card for a PCMCIA card then you will not have a problem. |
