Three weeks ago I got my hands on the new U720 USB Modem and installed the connection software that was on the provided CD. Using the software update feature in the Connection Manager software I see there is an update available: Sprint PCS Connection Manager Upgrade 20061218180530.

I've tried 3 times now to install this update with no success. It downloads and goes thru the motions of installing, but the update isnt applying as it's still listed in the update check.

Since attempting to install this update, my signal strength meter in the connection manager dissapears completely and I manage to connect with an error 122 listed in the Device info and Diagnostics tab. I live less than a 1/4 mile from the tower and my PC is right next to a window with a line of site of the tower. I had full signal strength when I first bought the U720 using just a single USB port with no drops in signal strength anywhere inside my home. Now I have to be next to a window just to connect.

Can someone please provide some insights as to what I need to do to restore my signal meter/ability to connect?

I was having trouble with the install until I realized when it said that it couldn't that I was not using an admin account. Switching users to an admin account solved the problem.

I should have provided more info, my mistake.

I am on the Admin account on this laptop. The current version of the Connection manager software is reported as 3.07.006

I use WinXP Home edition as well.

I am currently connected 1Xrtt with no signal strength meter being displayed.

I just removed, rebooted, and reinstalled the Connection manager software from the CD with no success as well. It was working perfectly up until I tried to install the update.
