|
|
A few weeks ago, Sierra Wireless released a "lite" application for Mac Users to use the AirCard 595 from Verizon or Sprint.
http://www.sierrawireless.com/support/sd_ac595.aspx
This thread will discuss any known issues.
The AirCard 595 requires activation in a Windows PC running XP before the watcher application will work. The watcher application cannot:
- Activate Card
- Lock/Unlock Card
- Update PRL
- Upgrade Firmware to AC595
(If you are a Mac User, and you purchase your AC595 from Verizon or Sprint from us, we can activate and upgrade firmware before shipping to you).
We have noticed one major problem with the AC595 Watcher Lite 1.0 application.
If you eject the AC595 and then put the PowerBook to sleep. When you awake and re-insert the card, the AC595 will NOT be recognized until you reboot your PowerBook. No known solutio - except reboot.
Anyone else notice any problems? _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

ever since I installed the watcher program, after exiting it, and ejecting the card, my Mac won't sleep period. It crashes, and then reboots.
You don't even need to sleep the PB for the card to not be noticed by watcher either. If you eject the card, exit the app, then try and reinsert the card right away, nine times out of ten, it won't work |

| If you are already using leopard, you should be able to use the native (Mac) drivers for the 595. I use the native drivers with leopard and haven't had a problem |

That is correct, If you are using OS X 10.5 Leopard...then get rid of that horrible Sierra watcher apps. All Sprint/Verizon Sierra Wireless AirCards now have built-in OS X Leopard support. It doesn't provide signal strength information etc, but it at least gets you connected to the EVDO network. |
