No problem - here are a few things, though you guys probably know better than I do.

First of all, if I understand correctly, the KR1 has issues with trying to use VPNs - the MB6800 does not. (I haven't needed to try VPN yet, but I've used it with Citrix and it works fine.)

Secondly, I think the MB6800 has a broader card compatibility set than the KR1, so if you think you might be swapping cards, that could be helpful.

Finally, as a part of the second issue, if I understand correctly, the 875U on AT&T is not supported by the KR1, and if you're going to be traveling outside areas with support from one of the CDMA/EV-DO providers and/or prefer AT&T for other reasons, I think the MB6800 is your only option. (For example, if you travel overseas - I can use my setup plug-and-play in Europe.)

For me, I sometimes travel to areas without Verizon EV-DO support like Santa Barbara (and am in any case wary of signing up for a service which they may cut off if I use it too much one month), and have sworn off Sprint after bad experience in the past, so AT&T was my preferred option. That, and the VPN issue with the KR1, convinced me to wait for the 6800, and now here I am.

We are getting in a shipment of Top Globel MB6800 tomorrow (friday). If you have one on backorder, we already sent you an email letting you know. Everyone that has one on backorder will get one shipped tomorrow and a tracking number will automatically be emailed to you (and we still have some left in stock).

A heads up on something we learned.

The Sierra Aircard 595U and 875U WILL have problems with the MB6800. They work and connect (we have tested the 595U), BUT the battery in the 595U is NOT charged and after a few hours of use, the 595U shuts down and you lose your connection. You have to then plug it into a laptop to charge the battery. This is a VERY POOR design and we don't know if the problem is the the MB6800 or the 595U. We are still doing research into this topic.

I believe the issue with the AC595U and AC875U USB cards is just insufficient power, which can be cured by using a powered hub between the modem and router, see my comments on p. 2 of the thread.

We are testing this theory and will have more to say in a day or two.

Here is a review from a user of MB6800 and EX720:

MB6800 also works well with all express cards such as Verizon V740, V640, and Novatel XU870.

No known issues with any express cards available worldwide.

We can confirm the EX720 + ExpressCard adapter works great. We will update our EVDO Router Comparison chart to refect that.

We should be testing a 597E ExpressCard this week.

The V640, V740, EX720 with an ExpressCard adapter work in the MB6800.

I just plugged my V740 into my brand new MB6800 and can't get speeds above 500kbps. When I plug directly into my laptop, I get 1200-1400. I have tried both the Novatell XV2 and XV3 express card adapters with no luck. Got all the latest firmware. Any guesses as to the problem?

never heard of the XV2 or XV3. the novatel adapter we sell is the XCA3:

and prior to XCA3, we sold XCA2:

both those adapters have been tested with MB6800 and we saw no reduction in speeds whatsoever.

I have a quick question.

I just bought the MB6000 for my AC595 card, but didn't even pay attention to the MB6800 router. The MB6000 only has 1 ethernet port, so I will have to get an ethernet switch to be able to connect multiple devices.

Would it be better to get the MB6800 router instead, since it has 4 ethernet ports, or will a switch attached to the MB6000 perfom just as well (bandwidth, latency, etc.)? Also, if I plug the router into the switch and run an ethernet cable to my desktop PC and a laptop, will they both show the same ip (like a router does), or does it give a different IP for each device?

Thanks

A switch attached to the MB6000 will give you additional ethernet ports. The built-in DHCP server will serve a unique local IP Address to each computer (Via WiFi or Ethernet).
