Are these units the same?

They look very much alike. Iam having a problem upgrading firmware for the the DIR-450 to (DIR-450_1.00b4[1] it hangs!

I've even tried the KR1's newest firmware v1.08 on the DIR-450 but it don;t work.

I want to make the DIR-450 work with my S720.

any suggestions?

thanks

No, they are not the same.

The Kyocera KR1 is a Kyocera product and DLink has written 1/2 the firmware and provides "support" for Kyocera.

The DLink is 100% Dlink, they provide direct support. You cannot use the KR1 Firmware on a D-Link DIR-450

Since we sell the Kyocera KR1 (and LinkSys and Top Global), you will find a lot more support up here AND directly via email and telephone (direct support only if you bought from us). We have tested the Dlink and we were not impressed, so we are not selling or supporting it.

I'am using DIR-450 with S620, works great.
1 Had to restore to factory default settings before firmware upgrade.
2 Use IEV6.
3 Use ethernet cable supplied with router.
4 Download firmware to desktop and unzip to DIR-450_1.00b4[1]
5 Seem to take quit awhile to upgrade.
6 After upgrade had to use reset button to get router working properly.

Thanks for the info, i'll try resetting.

I've done everything else. Even accessing the router's setup menu is difficult at times.

With the updated firmware DIR-450_1.00b4[1], will it support the S720?

thanks

With the updated firmware DIR-450_1.00b4[1], will it support the S720?

The following EV-DO cards are currently compatible with the DIR-450, listed by service used:

Sprint
Kyocera KPC 650
Novatel V620
Sprint PCS Connection Card PC-5740
Sierra AC 580
Sierra AC 5220

Verizon
Novatel V620
Kyocera KPC650
Sierra AC 580

Would like to know if S720 or any Rev.A card work?

Wish EVDOFORUMS would let us discuss products other than what they sell Rolling Eyes

We can discuss the DIR-450 all we want. The moderators have never deleted any posts regarding it. They did move one of my posts dealing with the DIR-450 from the Kyocera forum to here, but it's their site and they're free to organize it as they see fit.

Since they don't carry the D-Link product, it should be no surprise there's far less info about it here. But we can put whatever info about it here if we want to.

Right now my DIR-450 is unplugged and I'm dealing with the quirky mess that is ICS again on my server since moving to a U720. I'm hoping that D-Link eventually support the U720 or at least the S720 with a DIR-450 firmware update, but right now I'm not holding my breath.
