anyone being able to upgrade to newest firmware (DIR-450_1.00b4[1])How did you do it?
I have a couple of DIR-450's and they just hang and after a 1/2 hour I get the "page cnnot be found" in IE 6. It' s never easy to get to setup page anyways, it takes a couple of trys.
thanks in advance |

I just upgraded a DIR-450 using the file DIR-450-v1.01-B0013 (downloaded from the DLink support site) as the firmware source. It did take a loooooonnng time. I didn't time it, but I would estimate it was more than a half hour (I was off doing other stuff). Eventually it returned a "page not found" error, probably because the upgrade resets the IP address to the default, and I had changed it on mine.
When I changed the IP address on my machine to be able to see the default 192.168.0.x address space, I got the standard login screen, and it shows the device is now running Firmware Version 1.01 (was 1.00 before).
So, it's very slow, but it appears to work. |

Well, I finally just managed to upgrade my DIR-450 to DIR-450-v1.01-B0013 as well tonight, after failing miserably a few nights back. After the first try, my router was hosed so I had to use the emergency boot procedure (disconnect power, hold reset button in, plug power back in, keep holding reset down for 10 seconds, then release). Even from this screen, it still wouldn't seem to accept the new firmware. Even tried to go back to the earlier rev of firmware, no luck.
Tried again today and decided to use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. Still didn't seem to work at first, but eventually I saw the router reboot itself and now I'm logged in with 1.01 firmware. I have no idea whether using IE over Firefox really made any difference or not.
I think D-Link could clean up their upgrade process a bit. _________________ Reach, Connect, Celebrate, Grow, Serve. |
