Does anybody know of a good reasonable priced kit that can take an unusable 1 bar signal, improve that signal, and rebroadcast it throughout my house.(I have more than one phone I want to amplify the signal on) I am currently on Sprint and I can detect the tower inside my house, but the signal is too week to talk on(goes straight to redialing).

The signal that you are receiving in the house may be too weak for a wireless repeater.

How is the signal outside?

You can check your dB strength by putting your phone it to field test mode (see link below):

http://www.wpsantennas.com/pdf/testmode/FieldTestModes.pdf

For a repeater to function properly there needs to be around -70 dB (typically 2-3 bars on the signal meter of the phone handset) on the rooftop or highest point of the home (where the directional yagi antenna will be placed).

If you find that the signal is much worse than that outside you may have to resort to a direct hardwired solution still utilizing the rooftop directional antenna but connecting directly to an inline amplifier and an RF phone specific adapter.

I will run that field test some time today, but I can't talk in my driveway either so this may not work. I was thinking that the repeaters with the antennas improved the signal like the solution you talk of above. Then it just broadcast it over the house instead of hardwiring into the phone. But it appears this is not the case. I might consider the antenna and amp if this will not work.

Just ran a test inside my house is not good. It is between -95 and -105db.

What is the reading outside?

Do you have access to the highest point?

The reading is weak but there may be some options depending on the signal reading outside.

I finally got off my lazy butt and checked the outside reading. Didn't really see an improvement. Ofcourse I was using a different phone to do the reading since I have replaced the other phone. I have found that I can hold a phone conversation on a good day to within about 50-100 yards of my house. Also I can go about half a mile down the road and call out fine. The direction I go down the road also gives me a little elevation. Is there anything out there that would allow me to get my antenna elevated(I can find something to mount it on, just need something that can handle the long cable run), because I think this would be a big help.
