I've spent the last few days trying to piece together EVDO compatibility on Linux, so to help other people I've made the list below documenting how other people got their devices working on Linux. The format below is <Device, Distribution>; I've ignored anything about routers (e.g. the Kyocera KR1) since it is obvious those work.
The list below focuses on those who posted their configurations, rather than just success/failure.
Sprint
Merlin S720, Ubuntu 6.06
Merlin S620, Ubuntu 5.10
Pantech PX-500,Ubuntu 6.06
Novatel U720, Ubuntu 6.06
Novatel U720, Fedora Core 6
Pantech PX-500, Unknown Distribution
Novatel S720, Ubuntu 6.10 (article on setting up hardware, setting up software)
Verizon
PC 5740, Ubuntu 5.10
Unknown Aircard, Unknown Distribution
AirPrime 5220, Unknown Distribution
AirPrime 5220, Gentoo

I am running Fedora core 5 with a patched 2.6.18-6 kernel. The patch increases the input/output buffers to 2k. I am also running a dial on demand system called diald. The connection works great but I have been getting some disconnects lately. I am also running a caching name server to improve speed.

Fedora Core 6 has an updated airprime driver that avoids patching the usb driver. I saw a list somewhere of the cards supported, maybe I will post if I find it again. My KPC650 is recognized automatically.

Does anyone know if I could possibly have success on running my Sprint U727 on a Nokia N810 tablet? Apparently it runs a Maemo Linux based OS and has a USB port. Sprint claims Linux compatibility with this card but beyond that everything is a mystery. I am trying to avoid carrying a second device such as a CTR350.
