:?: I would like to get the U720 USB modem for my laptop and also use it on my desktop when home. The laptop only has USB 1.1. Are there any issues with using the U720 on USB 1.1 or would it be better to get a PCMCIA to USB card with USB 2 and connect that way?

Assuming it is the only USB device, there is normally enough bandwidth in USB 1.1 for most users EVDO connection when in Rev.0 networks.

If you are in Rev.A network and get really good signal, and there are few other Rev.A users on same tower, I could see how it might be possible that USB 1.1 could be a restriction... but i doubt the planets would align so perfectly for anyone.

My suggestion would be to try it in the USB 1.1 port, and if you could possibly borrow a friends computer with a USB 2.0 port, you could do a side by side comparison in the coverage area you normally use, and see if USB 2.0 is able to provide any faster connection speeds.

it should be fine - it might be a little slower than on a usb2 port, but then again if your laptop only has USB 1.1 connections it's probably a slower machine and probably wouldn't be able to keep up anyway.

should it work - yes
will it be the fastest under all circumstances - no
