I knew at some point the embedded mini PCI Rev 0 card would become obsolete, was just wondering if there is any word on when a mini PCI Rev 1 card will become available for VZW that I can use in a Dell Latitude D820.

We are looking into the availability of these, BUT don't know how large the demand is. Most of the embedded devices we currently see are EVDO Rev 0. Sprint just started embedding EVDO Rev A mini PCI devices in Sony/HP/Others, I am sure that Verizon cannot be too far behind.

This question/topic is a great reason to get a PCMCIA/ExpressCard/USB solution, it is easy to upgrade.

Michael,

Thanks for the info. I agree that it is easier to update an external device, but it is far more convenient to have it built-in (as long as you are in a good signal area, of course!). I've worked both ways and greatly prefer it built-in. I've noted that there are some internal cards out there, the real hassle is how long it takes the vendors to get around to offering them and then making them available without buying a new laptop.

I'd love to get my hands on one of those cards for my Dell D620. Dell's card is Rev 0 for Sprint, and I want a Rev A - doesn't make sense to buy tech that's already outdated. I'd certainly purchase one.

I have 10 company D620s that I'd probably switch depending on price and availability.

I would certainly purchase one for my D620 if I could get one for Sprint...

I would buy the embedded chip to replace the internal one in my IBM T60p for Verizon. Can they be purchased somewhere? regardless of price?
