I'm trying to get the verizon aircard to work with Linux. Most everything works fine. The card is recognized by the machine, my call script looks like:
| Code: | -detach
ttyACM0
115200
debug
noauth
defaultroute
usepeerdns
connect-delay 10000
user ##########@vzw3g.com
show-password
crtscts
persist
lock
lcp-echo-interval 0
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -t3 -f /etc/ppp/peers/verizon_chat' |
and my chat script looks like:
| Code: | ABORT 'NO CARRIER' ABORT ERROR ABORT 'NO DIALTONE' ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO ANSWER'
"" 'AT'
'OK''ATE0v1&F&D2&C1&C2S0=0'
'OK''ATE0V1'
'OK''ATS7=60'
'OK''ATDT#777'

I connect, I get an IP address, I can talk out to the internet, etc. What I can't do is ssh into the machine using the Verizon IP address. I can ssh using the ethernet interface, but not using the verizon given IP address. What's wierd is that I can talk out, but not in. I don't have any ports blocked either.
I also have a Sprint account and a sprint card made by Sierra Wireless. With Sprint, both of the above scripts are almost the same, and I have no problem accessing the machine remotely.
Any suggestions? Is Verizon blocking incoming connections maybe?
Thanks

| I do know that verizon's TOS forbids running a webserver on their connection. maybe they count an incoming ssh connection as running some sort of server. are you using a standard port? it would be interesting to see what kind of limits they put on users on their network and how or if they block this sort of stuff. |
