|
|
Hello,
Just got in an AirCard 595 to test from Verizon and to my surprise, EVDO Rev A is LIVE.
Tested in Cary, Illinois (Barrington, Palatine) and all have it. On my way downtown to do a podcast called "Communications Insider" and on the Metra train ride, I am getting great speeds (550Kbps Upload and ping times in the 100 - 113ms range). A lot more to be posted soon.
I am betting EVDO Rev A is widely available and the only way to know for sure, is to get an AirCard 595 and report to this thread.
More, incluiding screen shot later today. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Still on the initial train ride downtown.
Verizon EVDO Rev A still available in Des Plaines, Park Ridge.
And add this to being a geek:
Jabra Bluetooth in Ear
to
Sony Vaio
to
Gizmo Project (PBX softphone)
to
Office PBX over AC595 VZW Rev A
and had a few conversations from my "phone extension" to a few people in the office. Quality was great at times and a few times was poor - BUT it was cool actually having a PBX call to the office without a phone. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Are you using VZ Access manager? How do you know it's REV A?
Does VZ Access Manager say BroadbandAccess (Rev A) when connected? |

i don't have the new card or software yet to see for myself, but one way he can tell for sure, is those upload numbers.

Well actually you can if you have Venturi compression turned on. But if turned off, now way to get over 150Kbps upload. |

VZAccess Manager will display:
"BroadbandAccess (Rev A)"
I will post some screen shots later, I took a bunch.
It will be interesting to see what other areas have it. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Take a look at the dslreports list...
http://www.dslreports.com/archive/myvzw.com?1=1&p=1
Usually an upload over 150Kbps would have to be RevA but Rev0 with compression turned on could also show over 150K. But what's interesting is the domain column (last column). Some now show just myvzw.com and not the entire subnet. If wonder if those are RevA entries? Then again, some are commenting Cingular as the ISP, weird.
Try running a dslreports.com/stest and see if the domain shows the entire subnet for domain for just myvzw.com. |

Just ran another test from Cary, IL and saw this:
These have nothing to do with Venturi, this is real EVDO Rev A, in fact, Venturi isn't even an option in the latest VZAccess. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael, I understand the Bluetooth to Vaio part (by the way, is that a Sony UX 180P or 280P), but explain the Sony Vaio to Gizmo thingy to Office PBX thingy? What's that all about pray tell? |
