|
|
I am new to this forum and have tried to find another topic to put this under but it doesnt seem to fit anywhere else if this is wrong I do apologize.
I am having problems getting my firmware upgraded and the DDNS to work properly. I have now purchased two dir-450 devices and have had my problems duplicated in both devices.
Both units came with the same H/W and F/W vers as follows: H/W A1 and F/W 1.00.
My first problem is in updating the firmware. I have downloaded file dir450_firmware_100b4.zip from DLINK. I have extracted a file named dir-450_1.00b4 from this archive. I followed DLINKS online directions exactly and when finished (it took about 10 mins as expected) the firmware still states its vers 1.00 and dated 16 OCT 2006. According to DLINKS website the firmware date should be 11/02/06 and vers 1.00b4. I actually called DLINK and spent the better part of the afternoon with their tech support to verify I was doing this right. They determined I had a bad unit and wanted me to send it back. I exchanged it instead and the new unit does the exact same thing.
My main problem is with DDNS. I would like to configure the device to use services at No-ip.com. I configure my service provider, hostname, username and password on the DDNS page of the web interface. When I save settings the unit reverts back to DynDns.org. A review of the log shows it attempts to use dyndns services and wants to update members.dyndns.org and not the servers at no-ip.com. As a work around I setup an account at dyndns.org but that only updates about 10% of the time. It usually fails. The dyndns.org people say the hardware client is bad.
Furthermore, I have no way of emailing the log even though the description pane of the web interface identifies this can be done. There’s no fields available for me to enter email information.
It seems like there are lots of problems with the firmware of this device.
I would be interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced these DDNS problems and what they did about them.
Thanks for your help |

| I'm experiencing the same issue with Dyndns.org. If I go into the router setup and just save the settings again, it updates. My router reports the correct firmware revision after the upgrade, however. |

| Happy New Year! So you save the settings twice and DYNDns.org updates? What firmware version and date does your status page show? Also, are you able to setup any email for the logs or is that still impossible? I'm still stuck with the exact same problems I originaly posted about and DLINK has been no help at all. |
