Hey guys,

After recently noticing that Sprint had expanded their EVDO coverage to my area I jumped at the chance to give it a try. After going to the local Sprint store for some instant gratification, I ended up purchasing a U720 only because they didn't have any PCMCIA cards in store at the time.

After installing the modem into my Dell Inspiron 6000d laptop I immediately noticed that my idle CPU temperature increased from the 87-89 degrees fahrenheit to 109-116 degrees. My question is if this is normal? Would this also be the case if I were to use the PCMCIA card instead?

My other problem concerns using the modem with an external hdd attached. I just noticed that when I had the external hdd attached that the modem disconnected consistently. I assume this is because of the power needed to run the modem.

Any assistance in answering my questions would be greatly appreciated and please let me know if there is any additional information I could give you.

Thanks for the great site,

Steve

I would recommend trying an externally powered hdd since the u720 uses 2 usb ports specifically to increase the power available to the modem.
