We are going to be workamping at Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge in GA. Since this is an Verizon Extended Network, we are considering getting the KPC650 for our laptop. I called Verizon and it is doubtful about making a connection. The nearest tower is about 20-25 miles away. Is there anything that can be done to get a signal?

Thanks!!!

Don't know about Vzw but I have Alltel and we roam on Sprint's EVDO signal here. (Alltel PC5740 card in a KR1 router)

I pick up 1x regularly in Folkston. I live 25-30 miles away in Kingsland and am going to Folkston tomorrow. I'll have my KR1 with me. I'll let you know for sure what I get over there tomorrow. (Folkston, of course is the town right outside the swamp on the east northeast side)

Heck, I'll even run down to the park HQ while I'm in Folkston. I'm pretty certain Sprint has a tower in Folkston. I'll let you know what I find out.

I would be happy to be able to get on the internet. Thank you for the help. It will be interesting to see what kind of signal you get at the park.
