3,500 Square Mile Expansion Also Reaches Into Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego Counties, Transforming Southern California into an 8,000 Square Mile “Hot Region”

Building on its successful strategy to provide customers superior wireless services in the United States, Verizon Wireless regional president Marni Walden today announced the expansion of two award-winning services into San Bernardino and Ventura Counties, one developed for the consumer market, the other primarily for business customers. V CAST – the nation’s first wireless broadband multimedia service for consumers – and BroadbandAccess, the fastest wide-area wireless Internet access service available in the nation, are both available today throughout San Bernardino, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties. Both services run on the company’s high-speed EV-DO (Evolution Data-Optimized) wireless broadband network, the nation’s largest and fastest wireless wide-area broadband network.

“Today’s launch of our high-speed wireless broadband network across 3,000 square miles in San Bernardino, Ventura and Riverside counties provides the latest and greatest in mobile wireless technology to more southern California customers,” said Walden. “With V CAST, consumers can access more than 300 daily updated videos on demand, including news, entertainment, weather and sports updates, as well as music videos and 3-D games, from leading content providers. Just as important, BroadbandAccess provides mobile workers full access to their corporate information, just as if they were attached via a high-speed wired connection, but with the freedom of true mobility.”
