Just saw it on sprint.com.... You've gotta go to business solutons, then click on mobile broadband, then network devices. You have to scroll through the devices at the top of the page, but it is availbable there now too.

I'm a happy person these days Very Happy

This Sprint Web site also says that the U720 is compatible with Intel MacBook and MacBook Pro computers running OS X 10.4.8 or higher.

If so, where is the Mac software?

The Drivers will be released by Apple, not Sprint.

But this is good news... Sprint has stated

Quote:
Support will be there for the Intel based MacBook lines but not for the legacy PowerBook 4G computers for this card, Apple is no longer developing for the 4G line. Until Apple provides a date we are unable to set expectations for timing.

Shocked Rolling Eyes

As impatient as I am for this to work, I'd rather it take a little longer and be done right.

The sprint website (look under "Compatibility:"), per this post from above.

My order from EVDOinfo/Booster-Antenna was cancelled and replaced with a new order that is being processed directly by Sprint.

Any thoughts on when I'll receive the modem? How quickly does Sprint ship?

Just my opinion, but i bet someone at Sprint saw *our* reports of intel-mac compatibility and repeated it on Sprint site!
Why do i say that? because we know for a fact that using drivers from vzaccess software, the device is compatible with G4 and even G3 macs!

So, here is a partial screenshot of Sprint's site as it was at 530pm CST:

Let's see what it looks like after they figure out their mistake and fix it! Wink

They are saying it is Mac compatible in more than one location... perhaps I should take a trip to the Sprint store and buy one tomorrow to take back when it doesn't Smile

Don't get me wrong, if it works great, but unfortunately I think this is a mistake, one that Sprint shouldn't be making. Although maybe its true? Did Apple release any updates?

Also, we have caught errors before on Sprint's web site (e.g. PX-500 is dual band), after we reported it, they fixed the web site Smile

This isn't an error, they are just jumping the gun.

The U720 is not compatible until Apple pushes an update out that supports the U720, see the Mac thread for the latest info on Mac compatibility.

We have been able to get the U720 to work on a Mac using VZAccess 3.1.2.

The initial quoted text was forwarded to me by my Sprint rep. I suspect that the U720 will work fine on the G4 if there is a driver for it, however I also suspect that Apple will only release drivers for the Intel machines.

As big of an Apple guy as I am, this is the same thing they do with their iPod line. Incremental changes, and dropping of support helps their bottom line by forcing certain types of users to upgrade.

I bought mine online on Sunday, shipped on Tuesday, due to receive it Friday, possibly sooner. In the interim, my local store called to tell me they had them in so I bought one there and will return the shipped model when it arrives. (I have no patience!!)

Installation note: Installation was a breeze. One rudimentary note...You will need to go into Windows Control Panel, Network Connections, and disable any ethernet or WiFi connections you have active.

Performance thus far, without taking any actual measurements, is strong. Similar to a very good Wifi connection.

One annoying thing, which is more a byproduct of my Dell laptop's configuration than the device, is that the Novatel device blocks all the other USB ports, thereby making it impossible for me to use my wireless mouse or other devices while connected.

Try the cable--you'll find it has benefits far beyond physically unblocking ports (much better signal/speed moving the device away from your PC)and you don't need to plug in the second connector.
