| I am still hab=ving the same problem. The only thing that I have just tried is to create a manual dial up connection and keep your EVDO card on and dial. However, I can't judge that this is a fix! |

Likewise. What I wanted to do (and tried to) was to remove IBM's Access Connections and use the default windows programs to control my connections. Unfortunately, when I remove access connections and try to use VZAccessManager, I get the error 913. I tried reinstalling VZaccess manager and get the same error. If, however, I reinstall Access Manager all works well again.
It leads me to believe that Access Manager and VZaccess manager are somehow tied to each other... |

I have created a dial up connection using my verizon ID & password. The amazing thing is that it works fine at home, after disabling the Hi-Fi connection, and dosen't work outside the house!. It gives an error "the user name and password are not registered on the domain". I have removed access manager sometime ago though. I guess it is a configuration issue related to Lenovo access manager. I will call Verizone to check and let you know. Eventhough their tech support is quite useless:( |

|

Recently, I switched to an embedded EVDO card on a new laptop (running Windows XP SP2). It worked for a couple of days, and then I started getting mysterious “error 913” messages when trying to connect. After trying all the solutions that seemed obvious to me, I contacted Verizon Wireless Tech Support as suggested by the error message, which otherwise provided no information about error 913.
Perhaps surprisingly, Verizon Wireless Tech Support didn’t really know what error 913 was either. After a few minutes, I was escalated to second level tech support. They had me reboot. Then they had me reinstall the card controller software. The second-level tech support person put me on hold to speak with whatever higher level tech support she had access to. Then they had me delete the EVDO connection from the dial-up networking control panel and re-create it. None of these things worked. So she said I should just return the laptop to Lenovo and get a new one.
It was perhaps the best example of the three “R’s” of Windows Tech Support I had ever experienced: reboot, reinstall, replace. This may perhaps be the only cost effective way of providing such support.
I persisted, though, as I was pretty sure there wasn’t a hardware issue given that all the diagnostics were coming up without error. I would rather not return a perfectly good laptop just because we couldn’t figure it out. I was also suspicious because I had seen several instances of precisely this problem popping up in message boards, and the tech support person herself told me that she had recently been unable to solve the same problem with another customer. It just didn’t have the symptomology of broken hardware.
After a few more minutes of speculating about why this might happen, the tech support person said she had an idea, and asked me to try to reconnect. Since then, it has worked perfectly.
As I understand the problem, my account was enabled for unlimited “roaming” EVDO access, but did not actually have authorization for “non-roaming” (i.e., within the network) access. Thus the connection was rejected.
There are several things wrong with this picture. Why didn’t the EVDO access manager software provide an error message that actually indicated that the connection was refused for lack of authorization? Why didn’t anyone at Verizon know what error 913 was? Shouldn’t Verizon have a checklist for such issues that includes “check to see if the subscriber is properly signed up”? (For that matter, why did my account spontaneously lose non-roaming access?) These are just a few questions that come to mind.
I hate to beat on Verizon, a dead horse - my 2 cents, but it’s almost like they’re just asking for it. Maybe it’s time they rethink their organizational strategy. |

You'd be amazed how little communication there is between software engineers (who think up these error messages) and support people.
I think I saw 913 once. Ended up getting escalated beyond me. Weird. |

I've started getting these with my NC6400 notebook. (Windows XP SP2, VZ manager 5.7.3)
It's usually after a disconnect.
If I wait 30 seconds or power cycle the modem, it connects.
If I try to reconnect right away, I get the 913. |

Alright, here is what I did. Removed VZ Access Manager completely. I hate that software. So many problems on my T60p.
I then removed all the files related to VZ Access Manager from my computer.
I rebooted computer.
Used Access Connections to connect using my Embedded card and it works fine. Plus I have my signal strength right in front of me, so I can just move around my house whenever I seem to have low signal.
Access Connections is a little complicated, but my VPN works fine with it as well. |

Ok, i've been getting the same error 913 problem. I, unlike others here, have yet to be able to connect.
Using: Windows XP Pro w/SP2. IBM T60
Without the VZAccess Manager, the system does not recognize the device (drivers..are wrapped in the app I assume). I have attempted to create a profile with Access Connections, that just creates a manual ppp dial up connection. Get Error #720
noeclipse,
would you mind giving me a little more detail on what you did please? |

I have been experiencing the same problems with my new Dell XPS 1210 with embedded EVDO. I used the 3-day trial offered by Verizon and it worked extremely well. I called the day after the trial to order service (I have Verizon cell service) and the rep contacted me with the new number for my service. I have been unable to access anything since. When I run a diagnostics test, everything checks out except for the network. I continually receive a 913 error, which no one at Verizon seems to know anything about. I have been on the phone with Verizon techs on numerous occasions for lengthy periods and they are all stumped. Dell told me that since the number was activated (can't prove it by me, though), they can do nothing. I was told just to order a card and forget about using the embedded EVDO. Thanks a bunch. I am no technical genius and am a patient gal, but this is getting to be ridiculous. I've told my sales rep I want to cancel service and he is "working" on the issue, but I'm not exactly feeling reassured. |

Oh yes, my system is Vista, too. They were thrilled at Verizon when they heard that. |

I would demand my money back if Dell is unwilling or incapable of fixing the problem.
You paid for a notebook that is supposed to be able to provide EVDO service without any additional hardware. Now, when the notebook's EVDO feature doesn't work, Dell is telling you "too bad." |

| Remember, it's only money, so Dell should have no problem giving you a refund. |
