Is there any new news on the Novatell U720? Have they gotten they're issues with the FCC worked out yet? I'm being as patient as I can, but how in the world do you forget to run your device by the FCC? Thats just crazy!!

Just hang out and wait for news .When something is up Michael and the good people here will have the news up faster than CNN is at a plane crash. You cannot Rush the FCC , it actually slows things down . That is how government agencies work

Things can't be rushed. But the guy has a point! How can you forget to get an integral part of a device approved? Sure we'll wait. But it is amazing how Novatel dropped the ball on this one. And hey, folks who've been waiting are entitled to vent.

Well it's a good thing I went out and spent $1,200 of my hard earned money on a laptop in which nothing seems to be compatible. Why the hell would laptop manufacturers start selling laptops with Express slots when there's hardly anything out there even made for them? Now that I am paying $9.95 a day for WiFi access, I would have been better off buying an older laptop with a Type II slot. Incompetency. That's all there is nowadays.

I am stuck in a holidng pattern getting a MacBook Pro based on this device and if it will support the MacBook. I could go Verizon but not a very affordable (or smart) move since I am a Sprint Employee!

I wish someone go just give a Yes or No answer if it will work with a Mac.

Looks like I made a good move getting PAM for my new treo 700p. I can use it in USB mode until the U720 ships and then cancel the PAM service. Get 800 kbps down at some spots, less at others.

If you have one of the newer generatin phones that will work as a usb modem, this might be an option for you. Drivers might be a problem, I was lucky to find one for the Treo 700p.

I was really excited for the USB modem to come out because I has bought a laptop without a pc card slot. Then I went to buy it and the units were sent back due to I guess this FCC what not mess. So, me being super impatient, I went out and bought a brand new laptop with a PC card slot. So when I thought everything was cool, I got my next work contract in Evansville, IN. To my dismay, Evansville is not an EVDO city yet so here I am sluging away on 1xRTT. Bummer!

the next rumored release date is december 3rd. we'll see what happens then. we should be able to sell it the day of release. i also know we will have a review posted of the product, on the same day.

as for mac compatibility, another user on the forum is one of those lucky few who managed to find one for sale in a sprint store when they were pulling them back off the shelves, and he reports that the device he has is *not* compatible with MacOS.

we'll have to hope for apple to release a software update with drivers, or a miraculous hack. cuz you know sprint don't care about us mac heads.

Even if it does not work yet with Mac OSX straight up, should it work with an Intel Mac running Parrallels? Thank you.

Its not likely to work with parallels. USB devices are 'grabbed' by MacOS first, and made available to the windows virtual environment via parallels. so since it doesn't work with mac, you would be sharing that same inability with windows.

Boot camp would be a different story. it should work with that.

obviously, we'll all know more when the device officially ships.

Works great in Parallels. No problems after 3 weeks.
