|

Hello there!
Well, Im saving money on the Dell XPS m1210, I really like it's WAN feature and such, but they give you two choices. Dell Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband (CDMA EVDO) Mini-Card for Verizon Wireless or
Dell Wireless 5500 Mobile Broadband (3G HSDPA) Mini-Card for Cingular®
(Dell recommends)
But im hearing alot of stories that Verision is big and such, and cingular is small. And why isnt there a cingular section? So which do you recommend?
Btw I will be using this notebook in New York only.
Also, im going to be saving for a year, are there going to come out with better WAN notebooks anytime soon?
Thanks a bunch! |

If you are now saving money for the purchase in a years time, don't commit to a definite purchase at the end of a year since there will be better models that appear in the mean time. Just save the money and watch and then decide when you have enough. |

| I have the XPS 1210 and really like it so far - it is less than 3 weeks old - but the wireless connection with Verizon has been extremely problematic. It worked fine during my 3-day trial and has not worked since. I cannot comment on Cingular broadband service (although I worked for them seven years ago until I was "re-assigned" with most of my department). I have another, older Dell Inspiron 5100 which has DSL service, so I have been using that in the interim. But I really wanted to switch over to the mobile broadband and it has not been a good experience so far. Support has been ineffective so far and is blaming the problems on the Vista operating system. I am very dubious that that is the problem. I'm sure it is something fairly "simple", but so far they are clueless, which is maddening. |

Yeah, but Dell also recommends Windows!
Sorry I just couldn't help it...
Seriously, everything can change in a year. |
