I'm starting to get bored of waiting for news on Rev A phones for Sprint (I don't want the Libra.
Any of the current (or future) Sprint Rev 0 phones have the higher speed Bluetooth 2.0 for wireless DUN?

RevA phones won't appear until early next year. There is a rumored Samsung M610 (Glint) coming maybe end of this year that supposedly will have bluetooth 2.0. It's thinner than Razr but probably only Rev0. I'd rather them delay the phone and get RevA on it. Problem with phones this thin is reduced battery life. May end up USB tethering to keep the phone charged while doing DUN.

Cool, never noticed that. Only $80 with plan. But m500 only has an 800mah battery, which isn't great. I'd imagine a larger battery would be needed if planning to use BT2.0 DUN extensively, otherwise may as well USB DUN and keep phone charged.

Pity that none of the upcoming Sanyo phones are dubbed to have BT2.0 (If the M1 had it, that would probably be my choice for now). They seem to have pretty decent battery power compared with the samsung models.
My main concern with USB DUN is that I use it on the commuter train and I'm somewhat limited in terms of the number of wires I can really have flying around. Doing USB DUN with a treo has almost wrecked the data port on the bottom after a year of continuous use. It's the broken data connector that has me considering upgrading now rather than waiting for Rev A handsets to hit the market. |

Can only speak for my Treo 700p...
When connected using USB as a modem, my MacBook Pro charges the Treo. If the AC adapter is plugged in, then the MacBook Pro runs off of AC and charges the Treo.
The USB cable has an extra port for inserting the connector to the AC plug for the Treo.
To wit: it is possible that the phones with EVDO service will auto charge when connected via USB. Via Bluetooth there is no wired connection to transfer electricity so you may need an ac adapter for the phone. |
