over CAT5 cable to KR1 with MacBook Pro's internal Airport turned off
This thing is so blink'n slow. It was slow with the original software and it is slow now. I can take the broadband card out and put it into an old Powerbook, turn on network sharing and get 700Kb/s. This thing is slower than using my Treo 650 as a bluetooth modem (get 130 to 150Kb/s on Treo)
Cannot recommend this KR-1. The Express Card for Verizon on the other hand is awesome. Just plug in the card, no need to load a thing under 10.4.8 as Apple has the support built in.

That's not typical of the KR1 or any of the other EVDO routers (if it was, we wouldn't have sold the number of KR1's that we have). Typical measured throughput reduction is less than 5% for the KR1.
