Anyone up here using a Top Global MB8000 with a KPC650 on Alltell?
We have no problems on Verizon or Sprint, but we do not have access to Alltell, so we cannot troubleshoot / test.
Looking for an Alltel engineer OR customr that is using the MB8000 with AllTell, so we can confirm a problem that a customer is having.
We know the MB6000 works fine.
(note to Alltell... If you can provide our tech guys with an activated Alltell KPC650, we can provide better support for your customers). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

We sent our customer a 2nd Top Global MB8000, that we pre-tested with a Verizon KPC650 before sending, it worked fine.
When the customer tried the AllTel KPC650 in the MB8000, it wouldn't connect.
So, at this time, we do not recommend the Alltel KPC650 EVDO card/service with the Top Global MB8000.
If additional information becomes available on this topic - we will update this thread. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I'm just throwing this out there, but KR1 had this problem as well early on. It worked great for Verizon with a KPC650 but wouldn't connect with Alltel. It was discovered that Alltel support SimpleIP and not MobileIP for most of their data users. You have to pass a username and password during LCP for it to connect since it doesn't use AAA authentication. But who knows. |

| Thanks Mackieman. We've tried the typical standard way of authenticating as well as variations. Still no connection. Its a shame the Top Global indicates support where there is not support. |

Still no fix unfortunately.
If there are any Alltel Kyocera KPC650 users out there who have found the Top Global MB6000 or MB8000 to work, please post your success/failure. THANKS! |

Problem solved.
The Top Global MB8000 MobileBridge must be updated to V3.05(0001) firmware and then manually configured to work with Alltel's KPC650 (it will not currently detect the KPC650 by carrier and then autoconfig as it does with other cards).
MB8000 V3.05(0001) firmware adds a new PPP page for low level initialization configuration. |

So... what settings did you have to change in the MB8000 to get it to work?
Disable Van Jacobson style TCP/IP header compression.
Disable Address/Control compression(ACCM) in both directions.
Disable CCP (Compression Control Protocol) negotiation.
Disable protocol field compression negotiation.
Disable asyncmap(ACCM) negotiation.
TG has exposed the above PPP options in a pre-release firmware... But I can't figure out which ones to select to make it work. So far all it does it reboot whenever I send traffic through. Using an Alltel KPC650 that worked fine in a KR1 (need VPN support of MB6K) and in a laptop.
120 combinations if I try manually... ug. |

| Has anybody got any details on the necessary manual config that Mike mentioned above to get a KPC650 Alltel card to work in the Top Global MB8000. I'm looking to purchase an MB8000 and want to make sure I can make it work. |

| It was actually Scott's post regarding the KPC650, Alltel, and MB8000, and not Mike's. Sorry for the mixup... |
