|
|
Hi, I just got it from Booster-Antenna.com after reading all the good reviews - but it seems give me no performance gain at all.
First dumb question - which port should I plug this thing? The one next to the existing antenna or the one furthur from it? both can be pluged in. Called the 800 number in the package, a lady called Trasha (?) told me it's next to the existing antenna. Kyocera has it's own external antenna, CS told me to plug in the one furthur from existing antenna.
I tried both - power off card, connect it and download a 10 MB file over the net, all three are close to the same speed
and the RSSI are alose to the same as well. could anyone used that antenna share your experice please? Thank you.
Thank you. |

I previously sent you an email answering your questions, here is the email:
| Quote: | The booster antenna plugs in the connector without the white connector (the one on the left, not the right connector).
You may not see the signal bars increase, but you will the signal percentage and more importantly, the performance.
Here are a few antenna tips:
- works best if you are in 1 -3 bar coverage area.
- if you are in a 4 bar / 100% coverage area, there isn't much more improvement that you can get.
- if you are in no signal coverage, it isn't going to help (zero times anything is always zero)
- works best to "aim" the antenna in differnet directions, wait 10 - 15 seconds and retest the signal percentage (better to use percentage vs. 1- 4 bars). Once, you find the direction that gives you best signal strength - that is the best place to "aim" the antenna, however, it is omni-directional, so it will work no matter which way it is aimed.
We have reports from people that have a 2 bar coverage and they plug it in and still have a 2 bar coverage. However, after testing at http://www.dslreports.com/stest, they noticed a big improvement in download speed, I would recommend that you try this. |
A few more questions, what is your RSSI without the antenna? What is your zip code? _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Thank you, Mike.
Sorry I didn't get your email (hz97@hotmail.com?)
I am in 1 to 2 bar area, that's why I'm interested in an antenna in the first place. I got anywhere from 88 to 104 without it, and almost the same with it. right now it's a 92 with antenna.
I need to travel to zip code 21211 4 days per week, and I used to get 2 bars there and on the road. Haven't gotten a chance to test performance in 21211 yet.

I will call you on the phone tomorrow to see what the problem might be.
YOu mentioned that you plugged the connector in both ports, it only plugs into one port, the one that is not white. I wonder if the cable is damaged or bent and no longer making a connection on the card? _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I hope not. It's the lady in antennas.com who told me to plug in the wrong port and it did fit. When there is no gain, I went to check on Kyocera's web site and called their support number. He told me to use the other port and I have asked him three times since this is different than what I got before.
Thank you for your help and wait to talk with you tomorrow. |

For more information on the 2 different antenna ports, see:
http://www.EVDOinfo.com/Tips/PC_5220/Kyocera_KPC650_Booster_Antenna_Tip_20050713479/
Also, we did some tests and here are the results:
The lower the RSSI, the better:
KPC650 antenna down, RSSI -86
KPC650 antenna up, RSSI -83
Kyocera-Wireless Booster Antenna ($60), RSSI -80
Booster-Antenna.com for KPC 650, RSSI -77
BTW, for the original poster, send an Instant Message (AIM) to EVDOinfo when you are available, so I can contact you. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
