Has anyone gotten this to work with the Verizon service?
I have the V620 card and would love to have the Linksys router to use |

I'm working with someone know about getting this router and he is testing it and he is/was told that it doesn't support the AC580. Here is what he informed me of this morning:
It does not work with the AC580.
It does work with the AC595.
We have spent around 4 hours on the phone with Linksys working on
several administrative problems with the unit. Looks like we will have
to get their development lab involved.
Has anyone gotten the 580 to work in it? |

| Will the Pantech PX-500 ever work with this router, via a firmware update? Or, is there something hardware related that is preventing this? |

Well, I don't have Rev A available in my area yet, just Rev 0, but I have the 54G3G-ST and the AC595 card and, knock on wood, I'm happy with it so far.

Just bought one of the linksys WRT54G3G Rev0 and it works great!
Things I tried:
AirCard 580, ran for over 2.8 hours with no drops, RevA
Set up wireless feature for laptop, logs to VPN ok
Set up for router functions, used laptop and desktop, logged into separate VPN's with no trouble. Set addresses or leave in Auto (ip per computer)
Logged into VPN on one or both, search web one one or both with combo of VPN.
Speed varies with your location. Check CostCentral. |

The Linksys/Sprint Router is not a "Rev-0" device. it handles either Rev-0 or Rev-A, depending on compatibility of card used, and network coverage.
In addition, the AirCard 580 is not a Rev-A card. It is Rev-0 and not upgradeable to Rev-A

I have just installed the PC-5740 in my linksys ...it works almost ok...after about two hours, the router disconnects from the sprint network and can only re-connect by rebooting the router. Hope this helps! |

Clarification of my products:
Linksys router model: WRT54G3G-ST firmware v2.00.4
AirCard: Sierra Wireless 580 Rev0-15-6
Laptop: Dell Latitude D610 w\wireless & embedded networking
Desktop: Gigabyte N4 pro SLI, intel embedded networking, AMDx2 4200
Speed test for Aircard=1130kbps down, 106kbps up east/west, north/south no difference. I do notice a difference when the system chooses a different server location in the US, I'm in ohio but can be pinging from Atlanta, go figure.
Speed test for cable= 5mbps down, 509kbps up |

Anyone tried this? I have the same Verizon card... is the Verizon PC5740 the same as the Sprint PC5740 card that DOES work? If so, shouldn't the VZ be able to work in the Linksys? |

Just finished a setup at work. It was just like my test at home with the similar type of products.
AirCrd 580
WRT54G3G-ST
Dell latitude dualcore xp pro
Dell 2.8p4 xp-pro
I did have to load the software only on the laptop, and did not change any settings that were saved yesterday within the router.
Infact the laptop works with the cat5 and wireless running together, I'm thinking the cat5 takes over when docked, who knows who cares.
Speed at this site 500k down, 200k up.
VPN any unit at anytime. I even shared a printer, works only when they're not in vpn service (tunnel effect on vpn). Alittle slow to access if both attempt to vpn at the sametime ( about 30 sec) but, if your using dailup anything is better!
It never timed out while I worked between the two and did alittle training, about 3hrs with maybe 20 mins of idle time.
I have the time out function set at 3 hrs, they will remove card when finished and lock up before leaving.
VERY PLEASED so far. |
