Last week Sprint announced they are selling the Novatel S620 Connection Card. For those Verizon customers, that may sound just like the Novatel V620. The cards are identical, accept for the sticker that is on them.
FYI:
Novatel 620 + Verizon = Novatel V620
Sprint 620 + Sprint = Novatel S620
For those new Sprint customer finding these boards, looking for lots of useful information, you may be best to search the word 'Novatel' or 'Novatel V620' _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Just got a Novatel Merlin S620 from Sprint yesterday and got it working on my 15" Powerbook running Mac OS X 10.4.1.
The installer did not seem to work, but following the manual instructions caused my Powerbook to recognize the S620. I am now able to configure and connect flawlessly using this card.
To use the instructions, currently written for Verizon, on the Sprint network, you do not need to enter your username and password into the Network PPP prefs, just the "#777" phone number. Incidentally, I selected the "Verizon Support (V620)" modem script, and it connected flawlessly to Sprint -- 3G/Vision, not EVDO, as Sprint hasn't yet rolled out EVDO here in the Washington DC metro area.
Getting variable speeds (on 3G) ranging from 56K modem/DSL all the way up to around 800 kilobits/second peak. This is what I experienced when tethering a (decently fast) Vision phone, but it will be interesting to see how much EVDO improves things once Sprint rolls it out here. |

|

Thought I'd mention this for completeness -- before attempting to use the Novatel Merlin S620 on a Mac, I had already activated and gotten the card working on a Windows XP laptop.
I believe that it is essential to do this first using the Connection Manager software from Sprint because it (most likely) stores configuration/identification information about your account on the card. |
