| I am experiencing issues connecting to the www through the wifi on the router once connected, however once i plug the lan cord in teh computer the connection to the web works just fine. does anyone have suggestions as to how to fix this problem. I have no problems connecting to the router over wifi, or midifying settings on the router. |

| One possibility: your wi-fi adapter isn't set to acquire network parameters automatically (aka DHCP client) so doesn't get the correct gateway and DNS settings, or the static parameters that are set don't include the right gateway/DNS settings (or none at all). |

Same problem here, did you find a solution?
Rick
Update:
My problem was wpa related. I disabled encryption and was able to log on. I have an XP laptop and an XP Pro desktop. I use wpa2 on my linksys router for my home DSL wifi network. Both PC's work fine with wpa2. Any ideas?

| KR1 does not support WPA2; only WPA-PSK. |

Any ideas why my pc's won't take the wpa-psk login? I get asked for the PSK type it in correctly? and it still won't acquire. tried using Dells and Widows utility. Up till know my experience with wep & wap have been as easy as typing in the key.

If you've got both the Wireless Zero Configuration service and the third party utility that comes with your card, you will likely see conflicts that lead to issues like this one. I would disable one or the other and then configure it correctly. Windows has a pretty self explanatory interface for WPA-PSK. Third party utilities are often cryptic in their offerings and may mask the issue.
Usually what I've seen is that you have to select WAP and then select PSK over TKIP. Your mileage may vary but the idea is essentially the same. |

We experience this every single day.
Key thing: use Microsoft's Wi-Fi configuration tools. Look under Network Connections for your Wireless Connection. Make sure the Properties window for your device has a Wireless tab at the top. If it doesn't, something else is controlling Wi-Fi. If it does, make sure the checkbox next to 'Use Windows to configure my wireless settings' has a green checkmark. If it does not, than Windows is not controlling Wi-Fi.
When our customers install Linksys, Netgear, Belkin, etc Wi-Fi adapters on PC, the driver installer typically includes a Wi-Fi utility which is supposed to simplify configuration. Instead they're at a loss how to connect or troubleshoot the connection. Enabling encryption often compounds the issue. Answer: driver-only install!
Same with Wi-Fi on many new Dell, HP, Sony, etc notebooks. They'll either have a manufacturer's branded Wi-Fi utility or the Wi-Fi device will be disabled at the driver level, or by an external switch, or even a "super secret keyboard shortcut". Those are always fun to find!
Another important note to those of you who install VZAccess Manager with default settings: it acts as a Wi-Fi manager, taking control away from the built-in Windows Wi-Fi configuration tools. If fact if you have VZAM set to 'manage' both Wi-FI and your EVDO card the Wireless tab for your Wi-Fi device's configuration in Network Connections will NOT BE THERE.
Re-run the 'Options>Run Wizard...' in VZAM and detect ONLY the EVDO card and not BOTH the EVDO card and your Wi-Fi device. Then you will see the Wireless tab mentioned and have the ability to configure Wi-FI correctly AND see any preferred networks that are there.
