Hello all.
I am trying to get external network to be able to get into to my Videoconferencing equipment. I had no problem with regular Dlink router, all I had to do is DMZ it's interior IP address.
But for this router, I added an interior address for my Videoconf equipment to DMZ and it doesn't work. Then I tried port forward/virtual server and that did not work either.
Any known issues?
Thanks |

Ok. Verizon doesn't block ports.
We have not experienced issues with the KR1 mapping ports. They respond just like your typical DSL routers in the cases this was a requirement.
I have seen issues related to path (where accessing some internal service required appending not just a port number to an IP or URL, but also a path).
On occasion there have been bugs related to throughput, since outbound data rate is limited to ~130kbps best case. In essence there appeared to be a denial of service when in fact the rate didn't allow the service to connect. |

I just did a test. I set the firewall to accept all connection to all ports. That still didn't work. I had a friend call in to test, nothing.
DMZ - does not work
Port Mapping - does not work
Open to all in Firewall - does not work
My friend pinged my ip address and was able to get responses. I even compared the settings in my old dlink router. No luck.
I am baffled.

Care to explain more what you mean by path? |

This pertains more to the use of DynDNS name resolution and may not apply in your case:

Try setting your KR1 back to defaults: Tools>System>Restore. Rather than DMZ/Firewall settings, try just using multiple Virtual Server settings if you have ranges of ports (PITA, but it can work) or create settings using Special Applications (because you can set ranges too). Vid conference apps often use control ports to initiate sessions. If no data is seen, the session fails.
Can your video conferencing software reduce outbound streams below 100-120 kbps?
Even using something as simple as AIM/iChat required limiting the outbound data when using an EVDO data card directly connected to a notebook. Due to the rate loss/latency through all routers, video conferencing with AIM/iChat for instance, over EVDO rev.0 can be pretty buggy and not work at all. |

| Ha!!! This is what I was talking about on the other thread... The DMZ functionality of this router really does not work. I just trigger the ports on the Applications part of the KR-1 if I am to use programs that require specific ports to be opened in order for that program to pass through the router. |
