I too have the same configuration - Ubuntu (you need to patch the usb serial to get good EVDO performance with a KPC-650 or most other cards- the bug list has this as a topic).
It usually is in my KR1 with some extra antenna including a trucker, the booster (tombstone shaped), and a car-roof antenna. I used my 1006 with GPS addition.
With wifi I get occasional lockups, but I have an external 9dbi antenna some distance and the case off one. Often it will go the whole day (at T1 speeds) without a lockup, but if I don't put the external antenna on the WiFi it seems to hiccup more. |

Having the very same problem as discussed her with mine. Same card, Verizon with a orange light. I thought it my be just a signal issue but I hooked up an external antenna to the card. I have solid bars in the router. But it still does it. It is running the newest firmware. Returning in next week.
Donno if I should replace it? Or get refund. That is why I stopped by here and it appears that it wasnt just MY KR1.
