Taxes on Monthly Bill (Verizon or Sprint EVDO Bill)

Read this article on how to "dodge" cell phone taxes. Nevada has the lowest. Call your provider, provide a fake address, tell them you want a new number in NV, and bam its done. Technically, it isnt legal, and in some ways can be consiered tax evasion. That is for the courts to decide when they figure out who is doing this. For me, I dont care what the area code is since I have a data card. I havent done it because of the moral issues involved. But those of you who are willing, go ahead and try it out (I am not calling you immoral, or saying you have a lack of morals, I just dont feel right about doing it personally).

Looks like California and Illinois may have the lowest taxes.

BUT, it seems a little different depending on if you have Verizon or Sprint, so include that info too.

I have a (347) NY area code. I don't mind if this is THE very first bill. And I am hoping that tax, surcharge and fees don't amount to $24.44 on my next bill as well. I've been told that it shouldn't but am still worried about NY tax itself.

You pay tax on the equiptment charges as well as service.
