I have just spent 75 minutes holding for tech support 3 times and searching the net and can't find my answer!

I just bought a new laptop and the MerlinS620 Sprint Air Card. I'm using Microsoft Outlook for emailing. I have Optimum Online Account and email addresses.

I cannot recieve any emails and dont know if they're actually being sent! It leaves the outbox but I don't get the test on the other end. When I go to test the email through account information, it all goes through successfully but when I compose and send an email, it's not recieved on the other end.

For Incoming main server (Pop3) I have mail.optonline.net
For Outgoing mail server (SMTP) I have smtp.sprintpcs.com

What am I missing?? Thanks guys!

btinc, when you setup outlook, is your incoming and outgoing the same or different. What do you have in the outgoing?

Thats where my problem is. please go to "tool", "email accounts", "view or change existing email accounts", pick a name and click "change", what do you have in the "outgoing server"??

Thanks.

Your ISP optonline.net requires something called SMTP Authentication, after you configure Outlook for SMTP Authentication, it will work fine.

Contact your ISP for directions (or search on Google and you will find many examples).

GOT IT. Here's what happened:
It was definetly smtp.sprintpcs.com as outgoing mail server which I had. The Login name was wrong which they gave to me. lol

So from main outlook screen, I went in:

Tools
Email Accounts
View or Change existing email accounts
highlight a name, click Change
More Settings
Outgoing Server
Check "my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
Check "log on using"
Fill out info
leave secure password unchecked
leave log onto incoming unchecked
Click ok
Click Next or Finish

That should do it. Hope that helps someone.

I used the same setup as I have always used in my Outlook with the same incoming server as before for example for my email addresses and incoming server like mail.gbreisch.com or pop.netzero.com but now use outgoing server on all accounts as smtp.sprintpcs.com then a special step different than before – go to more settings then select the tab for outgoing server then check “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” Then check the “Log on using” circle and then you have to put the sprint User Name and Sprint Password in that you either know or have to get from Sprint – I waited for help from 1:55 AM to 2:35 AM and got a real sharp support guy online to help me and let me pick a separate user name and password to the email setup gateway for this setup. Of course you want to check the “Remember password” and that is all to get it going.

At work with mails I usually has a lot of problems, one of the best popular of them-corrupted or deleted mails, similar problems I resolve through-pst file fix,
it is free as far as I remember, moreover tool has many good probabilities,it can also be used to recover data from Microsoft Exchange .ost files and convert them into Microsoft Outlook .pst files, attempt to recover the data from the damaged file, saving the output data either as a single .pst file or as a set of .eml, .vcf and .txt files, easily imported by other applications supporting these formats, such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows Address Book, will display a progress report showing recovery statistics, such as the number of recovered folders, items, paths to the source and resulting files, software fix outlook pst under and compatible with Windows 98,4.0,Me,2000,XP,Vista.
