To be completed by January. And Sprint/Alltel will roam EVDO for free by January. Looks like it will address some key weak spots for Sprint like SC, West TX and FL panhandle. Rural KS and NE will be quite happy.

| It looks like they include some Sprint areas as future coverage like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Reno. Unless Alltel is planning to deploy native networks in those cities which is highly unlikely. |

You might be right that it shows Sprint as well. Looking at FL and CA maps, Alltel does not have native voice service in LA, SF or Miami yet the future EVDO shows those cities. Hard to make out but also shows Seattle and Portland, which do not have native Alltel voice service but do have Sprint DO.
They only show futures on the national map, not the state level maps yet.
Between the two, the DO footprint is quite impressive and it will grow through 2007 if/when Sprint converts acquired affiliates. |

EVDO is up and running in the Florida Panhandle ... at least in the Crestview area.
odd thing though, my upload speed isnt much faster now than it was on 1xRTT ... maybe that will improve in time though. |

Note: Answer below for EVDO Rev 0
Upload uses the same 1xrtt channel, even when on EVDO, so you not see a upload improvement when you go from 1xRTT to EVDO (however, you will see a big improvement in download speeds, 50Kbps - 100Kbps to 400Kbps - 700Kbps. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I'm totally new to this EVDO thing - just installed it - confused whether I have EVDO yet or 1X is there a way to confirm from software?
Here's the deal - I was getting about 40kbps... unacceptable - (this was this morning) I had 4 bars of the 10 possible in the signal chart in the router. I moved it upstair and now get 7 bars of 10 and now I get a bit over 400kbps. My sales person today said - we have broadband EVDO now here. I called ALLTEL tech support and they said we don't have it here yet, will be here in January.
So I assumed I'm at 1X and not on EVDO yet - but you just mentioned speeds of 1X being 50-100 and EVDO being 400-700. Since I'm over 400- does that mean that I DO have EVDO broad band now? _________________ PortraNET.com |

| Look on your Quicklink Mobile window ... it should show either a "DO" (possibly a "EV") or it will show a "1X" .... if the first shows, you are in EVDO mode, if the other, then you are in 1xRTT. (Would attach a picture showing you, but my drivers got corrupted while at work, have to wait till I get home to re-install them) |
