Hi all. I have the S620 card(Sprint) and am having a problem doing a simple ping to my laptop connect to the internet with that card. I have had no success being able to connect to it in any way. I want to be able to remotely access my laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, that is what I thought from my other readings but I just wanted to make sure. Would I benefit from using one of those dns services like dyndns? If so is anyone better than the other?

| To remotely access laptop, you can use UltraVNC.com for free. I've used it often with EVDO connection. You can assign to any port but the default one also works. |

Here is a description of what I am trying to do. I have my laptop at a remote location connected to an automated system through the LAN(cable) port. I want to be able to connect to the automated system FTP server from my home computer through the laptop using the EVDO connection. _________________ Master of none |

Try running VNC server on the laptop and specifying port 5800 as the access port. From the filtering list that xenophon pointed you to, it appears that it should get through Sprint's filtering. With VNC server running on the laptop and a VNC client on your home computer it would seem you should be able to remote the whole display and keyboard. With that you should be able to do whatever you can do on the laptop locally.

I tried to connect using either UltraVNC or RealVNC changing the access port from 5900 to 5800 on either and have been unsuccessful. I was successful in setting up a FileZilla ftp server and connecting to it. Are there any other settings in the VNC programs that I may have overlooked? _________________ Master of none |

Ports might be blocked on home router.
When changing ports on VNC, be sure to use two colons :: in the VNC client to identify different port. |

| Additionally, when opening ports on the firewall, ensure that you open the port+1. That is, if you're running VNC on the default port (5900), open both 5900 and 5901. If you have two machines, you'd also need 5902 and 5903. |
