Coverage in New Jersey

so i live in lakewood, NJ 08701 - when i signed with sprint, they told me i was in the "new york 'market'" - do you think thats the same as when they say they will have coverage in "new york", are is that more specifically to new york city? and if so, whos likely to have coverage in my area first, sprint or veriizon?

I live in Jersey City, NJ at nearly the end of a pier on the Hudson River and this is what I'm getting with Verizon:

Signal strength meter: Full
Transfer speed: ~100Kbits/sec
Rx Agc1: -62
Rx Agc2: -55
Card: PC 5220
Antenna: Internal

I thought I might need an external antenna or yagi but there must be a Verizon tower very close by!
