I've turned off ethernet and airport, but it doesn't help. All I continue to get is the "devide unplug notice" everytime I try to connect. I'm using the PowerBook G4 and cannot get it to work. Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

I have seen this error on one of my Macs (an old 466MHz Clamshell iBook). Turned out to be a dirty USB port. Cleaned it and it hasn't happened since.
What appears to be happening is a temporary electronic disconnection due to the oxidized USB contacts (or so it would seem). I used contact cleaner on a flat swab, though alcohol should do the trick. |

| Well, it only seems to happen when I lose the signal, even if I just lose it for a brief second. I'm going to install the software on my pc and call in to run some diagnostics with your help department. |

I'm getting the same error with my Merlin EVDO pc-card on a powerbook G4 running Tiger. I've been using the card for several months now and this started happening last week. It happens every couple of days.
Did you figure anything out?
thanks. |

| I frequently get the same "USB Device Unplug" error message while using the Franklin CDU-550 (with a 12" PowerBook Rev A) and suspect that in my case, the only real problem is poor reception. Cell phone reception (including Sprint service) in our apartment/neighborhood is a bit shaky, and this is where the error messages always occur. However, I regularly take the PB and CDU-550 to a more central location (i.e., downtown Chicago), where I am able to maintain a connection for hours at a time without a problem. When I get home, alas, the error messages start all over again... |
