Hi all,

I've got the V640 card and it is working great but I've got ne small question about how the PRL list works. I have both OS X and Windows on my mac book pro and I don't use the VZAccess Manager in OS X because it makes the connection noticeably slower. What I am wondering is about the PRL list. The OSX side says the PRL list is 43205, the windows side claims the PRL is 50600 (or there abouts) and if I install VZAccess manager on the mac it says the PRL list is out of date and needs to be updated. (?)

I thought the Apple driver is able to update it's list by selecting Activate from the menu. Is this true? Also why the number difference between Apple's and Verizon's drivers. Why did the OS X version of VZAccess Manager want to upgrade the PRL list when the Windows version has always been up to date. I thought the PRL list is on the card...

Sam,

Great observation.

I have confirmed what you are seeing.

Here is what I see in Apple's 10.4.7 3G About Box:

Here is what I see in VZAccess Manager 3.0.1:

So, it appears that either Apple's driver is reporting the wrong number or VZAccess is changing the PRL value.

Thr PRL is stored on the card. There is a preference in your preferences folder that contains the last date/time you did a PRL update. When you first install VZAccess, it only knows that you have yet to do a PRL check and it will always recommend that you do one, and then again every 30 days.

We will have to wait until there is a PRL update from Verizon and test to see what is reported in the Apple menu and if it updates properly.
