Maybe I should consider this.
Then I would have to order another $13 adaptor for my antenna.
Then I have to wonder if it would work in my Kyocera KR1.

| I have seen this help getting Sprint PCMCIA cards recognized as a modem on numerous laptops. After reading this thread it couldn't hurt to try that. |

From what has been posted on these forums (in the other board section) the KR1 didn't work yet with the aircard 595 (the new sierra revA). This might of changed however I had noticed that just the other day.
Albeit I'd definitely suggest looking into BIOS updates (had to do so on my HP laptop as well to resolve a different issue, bsod problem). |

Thanks for the info.
I did update my BIOS to the latest version and it did not help my problem.
I guess I'm just stuck between a rock and a hard place. I really need the card to work in my router and my laptop.

| Are there any USB parameter adjustments in BIOS that might effect device detection/function? |

Halleluiah - Problem Solved.
After a month of much misery and frustration my problem is resolved. I think I formatted the hard drive and reloaded my Thinkpad 7 times this past month because of this problem.
First let me thank everyone who tried to help me solve this issue. I really appreciate your responses.
I was trying the last suggestion checking my USB ports in the BIOS when the problem went away. My S720 was in the basement in a KR1 at the time and my son's S720 was handy. His card worked perfectly in my Thinkpad. I can not explain why I have not tried his card before now. Dumb, dumb, and dumber.
My S720 worked in 7 different laptops and 2 different KR1 routers so I thought the card was good. I never once thought my card was defective until I tried his card and all my problems went away.
I quickly called Sprint and they sent me a new S720. I just received it by UPS and after I activated it in my Dell D610 I put it into my Thinkpad R50p and it worked the first time and every time thereafter.
I now have the new card in my KR1 and it also works great. Not as fast, but we can all get onto the internet at the same time.
There is no doubt that my first S720 was a bad card and would not work in my Thinkpad.
Thank you all for your patience through this ordeal.

I'm having the same problem with my IBM Lenovo X61 tablet running XP. I've been at it for 2 days now trying to install Merlin S720 . When at the point to insert the s720 card dialog box pop up “Unknown Device Found” . Seem to be the card Driver issue. Check google for updated driver but no luck :-(
Gaving up now and getting different card! |

| I have the same problem Steve had except with a Dell D620 and a Sierra Wireless 595 (I forget the model). It detected it as a wrong driver and I cannot install the correct drivers. As Steve said it was a faulty card, I thought the same. So I received a Merlin S620. Guess what? EXACT same problem. So it can't possibly be the hardware, as it happened on both cards. I was hoping the answer would be at the bottom of the post but it seemed no one figured out what's going on. Why is it so tough to install a pc card into a dell laptop? REally frustrated. |
