There are several postings out there about a major Oct/Nov release of many Sprint devices, including...

Novatel u720 DORA (USB RevA modem)
Pantech PX500 (RevA PC card)
Sierra AC595 (RevA PC card)

Sanyo 8400 (EVDO phone)
Samsung M500 Allegro (EVDO phone)
Motorola KRZR
Motorola SLVR
And a slew of EVDO phones, but not clear if any are RevA.

Has anyone confirmed that the upcoming A900M will support EVDO Rev.A? Apparently, it is still up in the air as to whether the phone's GPS features have been fixed or not.

Looks like the answer is no...
http://www.pcsintel.com/content/view/1465/32/

And disappointing that a900m still won't have an SD slot.

But there is word of an a900p, that may have an SD slot and GPS 'fix'. Hopefully RevA too.

But the Glint is coming end of the year and could be a razr/a900 killer. Has Bluetooth 2.0, microSD slot, thinner than Razr. No word if RevA or 0.

Here is an unverified pic of the Novatel u720 USB RevA modem. Might just be a generic USB device pic, but looks like it has a popup antenna and LED very much like on the S720. Word is, to be available by Oct 1.

Here is a pic of the Sierra Aircard 595 RevA PC card. Does not appear to have a flip antenna as the S720 has. No Mac drivers either.

Here is something I found in google's cache but the original was deleted. Maybe Sprint asked to delete a leak or it is false info. Take it for what it is, as the source is not known.

Samsung 10mil - Sept
Samsung A720 - Decided not to carry
Samsung M500 - 9/24
Samsung A900M - 9/10
Samsung IP-830W - October
Samsung Glint - December
Samsung SCH-i320 - November
Sanyo 5600 - November
Sanyo 8400 - 9/24
Sanyo 7000 - November
Sanyo M1 - November
LG150 - 9/24
Pantech PX-500(Rev A Card) - 9/24
BB 8703 - October
Novatel U720(Rev A USB Modem) - 9/24
Sierra AC595(Rev A Card) - 9/24
i880 - November
Moto RacerLite ic402 - 9/24
Moto Racer ic502 - 9/24
Moto Razr - 9/24
Moto Honolulu - November
Moto Krzr - November

If those RevA card release dates are true, might be worth Michael to take pre-orders if he can get setup with Sprint. I hope you don't have too many of the Rev0 USB modems stocked up.

Wow. Thanks for this info. I started another post in the franklin forum not seeing this one here... This is fantastic news.

Listen, can I assume that a Rev A usb, when Rev A is up and running, will draw more power from a usb port than a Rev 0 will? I am trying to find a usb modem for my sony ux180. I have heard that the frankiln may need more than one port, that is is, it draws a lot of power and sometimes gives a warning that it is drwaing too much power? Could this jusr be a design flaw of the frankiln and maybe the new usb from novatel may not necessaqrily pull more juice?

Consider this just as rumors, but something is indeed coming in Oct. I was reluctant to post rumors cause it could hurt Michael's sales of Rev0 devices in stock. But there will always be something newer 2-3 months away. If these rollout dates are right, hopefully he can take pre-orders soon, as his support is far superior to all of the carriers.

It's not likely RevA will draw more power than Rev0 within the same device. The max power specs of the S720 RevA card are the same or better than the S620 Rev0 card.

Right, I understand your not wanting to say something too early becasue it might hurt sales, but I also don't want to spend money on something that will not work with Rev.A. I had had high hopes for the first usb modem. I am already under contract with a merlin 620. Whatever I buy will be full price out of my pocket. It was a real shame thta Franklin didn't makes their's Rev. A. About Michael's busniess here, I'd also like to buy from him when they have something I can use. I got my Merlin 620 through them. I'd love to buy a the new Novatel usb Rev A through them.

Sprint has announced more RevA devices. They now claim to cover 158m population with EVDO, up from 153m earlier this year.

Sprint Announces Plans to Expand EV-DO Revision A-capable Device Portfolio; Two Additional Mobile Broadband Cards to Support Advanced Mobile Broadband Speeds When Available in 4Q 2006

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2006--Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced it will enable more customers to benefit from Sprint Mobile Broadband services with the expansion of its EV-DO Revision A-capable device portfolio, with two new mobile broadband cards by the end of the year. Sprint, which operates the nation's largest wireless broadband network covering 158 million people, currently offers one other EV-DO Rev. A-capable device -- the Sprint Mobile Broadband Card by Novatel Wireless (S720).

All three cards operate on the current Sprint Power Vision(SM) Network with average download speeds of 400-700 Kpbs. These cards will also provide even faster average download speeds of 450 - 850 kbps and broadband upload speeds of 300 kbps - 400 kbps in coverage areas expected to be upgraded starting later this year. These data rates will provide customers with remote access to richer applications and services such as high-speed video telephony, video messaging, music-on-demand and the ability to upload large files. Sprint expects to start its rollout of the upgraded network (known as EV-DO Rev. A) during 4Q 2006 and will reach more than 40 million people by the end of the year.

Sprint Mobile Broadband Cards

Designed for operation with compatible laptops with Type II PCMCIA slots and the Linksys Wireless G-Router for Mobile Broadband, the new Sprint mobile broadband cards will allow customers to connect to the Sprint Power Vision Network and remotely access audio, video and data applications at broadband-like speeds.

Sprint Mobile Broadband Card by Pantech (PX-500) - Customers looking for the best value to meet both professional and personal needs can take advantage of the Pantech PX-500. The Pantech PX-500 can be purchased through all Sprint indirect and business sales channels, online at www.sprint.com and in Sprint retail stores for a suggested retail price of $199.99 or is available for free with a two-year subscriber agreement and mail-in-rebate.

Sprint Mobile Broadband Card by Sierra Wireless (AirCard(R) 595) - Mobile professionals will find value in the latest technologically advanced AirCard product developed by Sierra Wireless. The AirCard 595 design and operation features include a high-performance, durable, built-in antenna that provides maximum speed, signal sensitivity and coverage. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 will be sold later this year through Sprint indirect and business sales channels and online at www.sprint.com. Suggested retail price for the AirCard 595 is $249.99, and it is available for as low as $99.99 with a two-year Sprint subscriber agreement.

"Sprint is at a competitive advantage with the nation's largest mobile broadband network, our accelerated EV-DO Revision A deployment strategy and the nation's first commercially available EV-DO Revision A-capable card we began selling last month," said Danny Bowman, vice president of product marketing for Sprint. "By further expanding the number of devices that can be used to access Sprint Mobile Broadband services, we are giving customers even more choices to meet their mobility needs today and well into the future."

Service plans for all cards and the USB devices currently range from $39.99 per month for 40 MB to $79.99 per month for unlimited data usage. Customers signing a two-year Sprint subscriber agreement may also be eligible to receive unlimited data usage for $59.99 per month (no separate voice plan required).

Sprint today has the most wireless broadband coverage of any carrier. The Sprint Power Vision Network now covers 158 million people and services customers in 220 major metropolitan areas. Ultimately Sprint plans to reach more than 200 million people in the United States with mobile broadband data services by the end of 2006.

Additional information on the Sprint Mobile Broadband network including coverage maps showing current and future coverage, Mobile Broadband service plans, and the latest access devices can be found at http://powervision.sprint.com/mobilebroadband/.

Here's another person (considered to be reliable source, probably Sprint employee) who claims the Novatel U720 USB RevA modem will be released by Sprint Oct 1. The post was before the CTIA announcements and some have been accurately announced after the post.

The same person last week said the Sierra RevA PCMCIA card schedule has been bumped up to be released this week, so if that turns out not to be the case, don't trust the above info.

Now if only the RevA ExpressCard release schedules could be bumped up to next month.

OK, the guy in the above post link claimed that Sprint would bump up the schedule to release the Sierra 595 RevA card this week. He was correct...

http://www.evdoforums.com/thread3325.html

So it gives a little more credibility in his claim that Sprint will ship the Novatel U720 USB RevA modem by first week of October.

These new devices, due out in Q1 of 2007, will be supporting Rev. A as well.

The U720 DORA is definitely scheduled for an October 1 launch.

"Make it so."

Methinks Sprint will also announce on Oct 1 specifically which markets will get RevA this year. At least 10 markets are expected to get RevA this year and the rest of EVDO network next year.
