What will be the price and how does one get to buy the first one to ship? |

Once Sprint's Novatel 720 dora usb modem is out, can anybody explain to me why anybody would even want to buy a laptop card?
After all, a laptop card is limited to a computer with a pcmcia slot. Whereas a usb modem can be put into any computer, no matter how small, that has a usb port (including your larger laptops that have the huge pcmcia cards).
So, again, once 720 comes out, why would anybody even buy a laptop card from Sprint?

Because the card is contained inside the computer and the usb is external subject to damage or falling out. The laptop with the card inside can be picked up and moved without worrying about the usb device dangling or falling off.
The cards also work in the wireless routers which presently will not work with the usb devices.
The cards are free or almost so with all new plans. The USB devices are extra cost. |

You read my mind.
This is exactly why I'm thinking about holding off until they (if ever) get an ExpressCard version, while it is quite a bit larger I don't have a problem with that. Plus I'm not using my valuable USB ports for the modem then, I have no other use (as of right now) for my ExpressCard slot in my MacBook Pro. So until then I'll keep using a Bluetooth tether from my A900.

I just received the Pantech Px500 and the Linksys Mobile Broadband router, wrt54g3g-st, from Sprint. They don't work together. No support from Sprint, no support from Linksys (spent 2 hours on hold yesterday with linksys for them to tell me they had no information on the pantech card). Sprint is the ONLY distributer of this router in the US, but it doesn't work with all of their cards- wtf?
Does anyone have any configuration tips that might work?
Thanks |

Read the third post in this blog http://evdoinfo.blogspot.com/ from Friday 10/6. They state clearly that the PX-500 will not work in either the Kyocera or Linksys router. The S720 card works in both routers, although the KR1 does have speed "issues" with the card.
You need to return the card and get a package that works, which for me is the Linksys router and the S720 card (currently the only Rev A card compatible with the Linksys router). |

| Looks like it's not Sprint that doesn't know anything, nor Linksys- but my sales rep. |

We were just authorized to carry the LinkSys and we should be selling (and supporting) it early this week (next few days).
We have an internal router comparison/compatibility chart that we use internally and we will publish that in the next few days, that will help with seeing what cards work and which ones don't.
Currently the Merlin Merlin S720 is the only Rev A Card that is compatible with the LinkSys WRT543G-ST EVDO Router. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Currently the Merlin Merlin S720 is the only Rev A Card that is compatible with the LinkSys WRT543G-ST EVDO Router. | It will work with the 580 and the S620, The Pantech has a problem with 1012 errors and there is no way to know if that is the case unless you are using the connection mgr. If you plug in the PX-500 and install the conn mgr on a pc, make sure it is the active window and type ##data it will ask for the MSL, put int the activation code and click setting then RTN and reset the card. Go through the activation wiz and let the card IOTA, after that throw it in the router and it should work fine. Now as for the U720 working on a Mac........ I have 10.4.8 on mine and keep getting a modem error with the U720. We are working with Aplle right now to resolve this. |
