Methinks Sprint will also announce on Oct 1 specifically which markets will get RevA this year. At least 10 markets are expected to get RevA this year and the rest of EVDO network next year. |
I hope NYC is one of the first. I would think it is a big market here. _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

So it gives a little more credibility in his claim that Sprint will ship the Novatel U720 USB RevA modem by first week of October. |
I hope so. I am very ready to buy since I passed on the Franklin waiiting for a Rev A usb modem.... |
The U720 DORA is definitely scheduled for an October 1 launch. |
Well, I hope that is true. I am sitting here with credit card in hand. Seven more days.... _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

The thing is, Michael chimed in on the Franklin release and has been comspicuously silent recently about this one. It makes me wonder if this site will sell it. Or if they do, how long a wait we will have before they approve it for sale. If it is released October 1st, when will Michael have it for sale (if at all)? I'd love to buy it through evdoinfo.com, but I don't want to wait til November either... _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

Look at what has happened with the Merlin S720 and the AirCard 595, we were first to sell it (even before Sprint announced it).
So, look for the same thing to happen with ALL Sprint EVDO cards (or USB devices) _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

So which comes first, the network or the firmware for the cards? |

The network is first, they already have it in some places, but since nobody has the firmware, they can "flip a switch" to send it Over The Air (OTA).
It allows them lots of time for testing.
I have heard there may be a way to get the firmware upgrade, if you know who to ask. If we figure out how to, we will send out an email to all those that purchased from us _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I will look forwasrd to that email after I buy the u720. I saw over at the evdoinfo site an artilce form 9/20 saying you still didn't know about powe issues. Man, I hope it doesn't draw more than the frnaklin. I hope when you get your mitts on them you'll do comparion tests between the two....
I am still on my Sony UX 180 with just one usb port..... _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

I'm not a big fan of embedded EVDO into laptops as it ties you to a carrier but Sony just announced a Vaio with Sprint RevA embedded. If it uses a user accessible PCI Express Mini card, then that would be doable as it could be replaced or upgraded.

Don't hold your breath for any announcement today, the marketing guys @ Sprint have the day off.
We will post all the new to our sites as soon as they make it official (check back tomorrow). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

It's Heeeere....

Probably will be available from dealers like Michael pretty quickly, too.
Probably no reason to run out and get a new card yet, since the backhaul is lucky if it can support 1-meg bursts in most cases, let alone 3-meg. Still, nice to see they are rolling it out, and hopefully they will beef up the cells, too - that will help us all get the most out of it, even on the older cards. |

I'm only seeing the standard three cards when I look for my zip code (49091, Sprint corporate market). My guess is we'll at least have an announcement tomorrow like what was said previously, especially considering today is Sunday.
I'm very hopeful with my new MacBook Pro though!!
