New to the board and a farily new EVDO user...as of late June. The site has been of great benefit to me. Thanks!
I posted yesterday a number of coverage/reception data sightings in the maps section, reflecting my various business & personal travels of late. Locations are Houston (& airport), Tulsa, Phoenix (& airport), Tucson (& airport), Amtrak trains, etc. I'm a business traveller with lot of VPN use. I hope this information will be of benefit to other readers. And I hope to keep posting results from my travels...
Thanks! _________________ MKS |

Welcome to the forum mks. That'll be great information. Be sure to post speeds over on EVDO Maps if you get a chance. |

At my brother-in-law's place, 3 miles west of Portersville, PA 16051 (about 35 miles north of Pittsburgh - right next to McConnell's Mill State Park), we were surprised to get a pretty respectable connection. His house is in a fringe area according to the Sprint coverage maps. There's a green shadow RIGHT over his property, along his lot lines, with orange all around him.
Here are the results:
Outside, on his deck:
Inside the house:
In both instances, I was using a Pantech PX500 installed in my laptop. We attached an external Wilson 3dB whip antenna at the focal point of a tin-foil parabolic reflector. The reflector was adjusted for maximum signal (pointing mostly NNW).
They currently have 26.4kbps dialup, if the planets are aligned and the data gods smile down upon them. They are kind of balking at the monthly cost, but were pretty impressed.
I thought I'd post this for anyone else in the area - might give them some hope.

| I have been using Sprint Broadband in Los Angeles for about six months. When I came home to small town Payson, Arizona I was pleasantly surprised that it was working even faster than in LA. Likely due to Nextel's coverage here but none the less it is working better than cable ever did here. |

Add Tifton, GA to the RevA network list.
Here is my latest speed test:
Ignore the server milage, speedtest does not give me the proper physical location for some reason.
I'm using a Novatel U727 card. |

Hello everyone, I live just east of Asheville in Western N Carolina, I know for certain that Verizon just got EVDO revA here, but I'm very fond of Sprint, and wonder if they will get EVDO here too. I love when my phone flies on the net, and would like my pc to fly too! Thanks |

Sprint just completed their EVDO Rev A upgrades to the Columbia, Missouri (65201) area this morning. They'll be tweaking things for the next week or so, but we're LIVE!
My 755p has never been happier. |

SSRJazz....what type of speeds are you getting in Columbia, MO?
I live in Cape Girardeau, MO and the rumor is that we are next for Rev A. I'm looking forward to the possibility so I can dump my Wildblue Satellite account. |

Any news of expansion in northeast Missouri?
With the recent upgrades from Mexico, MO to Columbia, MO and a future tower in Eolia, MO, I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before expansion of EVDO heads farther north towards Bowling Green and Hannibal, MO along Highway 61. It's getting close. There's a lot of "dead zones" for any high-speed wireless broadband along Hwy 61 and there's not much competition with the exception of some local "Mom and Pop" shops that don't seem too interested in gaining customers. It's hard to even get a call back from these folks to do a signal check. I have a feeling they are going to wish they grabbed more subscriber contracts before Sprint rolls through. |

| EVDO is now all the way across I70 from KC to STL. I have no idea when Sprint will get to NE MO though. I'd think Cape Girardeau and St. Joe would be next. |

REV A on an Aircard 595u in Parsonsburg, MD (21849)
As a note, I cannot get cable or DSL out here so I was pretty shocked when I was told I could get it last week. Ive been dealing with 19.2kbps dialup for the last like..10 years. ugh |
Parsonsburg? I am in Ocean City MD. OC is pretty well covered with EVDO.
I just got a Centro a week or so ago, I did a speedtest earlier today and got 1102 down and 112 up. Surprsing for a "purported" Rev0 device. |
