Alex - OK, I live in an area thats not remote but is signal challenged. I tried regenerative cables and the 595U worked but reception was worse then being plugged into the computer or it's stand.
Will the 595U work well with the powered hub?

and shouold it be plugged directly into the hub or into it's desktop stand or does it matter?

hard for us to know for sure, since none of us live in signal challenged areas and have an ac595u.

buy a powered hub whose a/c adapter is rated for at least 1.5amps. that way you know it at least has potential to provide power you need.

i bought a Belkin F5U234 4-port hub, and while i am not endorsing that as the best choice, I know it can provide all 4 ports with max power because its a/c adapter is reated at a hefty 2.6amps!

after you get a hub and do your own testing, please do report back your results.

btw, doesn't it suck that in order to get decent performance out of your brand new evdo device, you have to get a powered hub? try sending the bill to sprint. that should be worth a laugh. OK. maybe not.

lastly... you might want to consider one of our antennas for the 595U

Already have an antenna that I bought from you guys. Doesn't really help much. I only have my computer on while I'm using it so the battery doesn't get much time to charge, I'm hoping the powered hub will keep it charged cause I'll leave it on all the time.

The powered hub is perfect for that - you can power down the computer and the hub will keep charging the modem. (I have an 875U, which uses the same battery system as the 595U, and am using a Belkin 4 port powered hub to drive it. Works like a charm.)

Has anyone else seen any issues with the 595U where it says its connected locally only? Basically its still shows as connected but isn't able to connect to anything. This has been happening to me fairly often and alot of time the way I fix it is to exit SCM and unlplug/replug the modem from the USB. Could it be a Windows Vista driver thing or is it likely issues with the 595U?

I am in a poor signal area with the 595U and haven't seen battery issues myself. I've never see the power like turn red on my unit.

I've had this happen multiple times in STRONG signal area. I'm wondering if this is a true bug, or a flaw using this card w/ Vista.

Anyone else having this issue and figured out a way to resolve it yet?. It actually seems to happen more so when I use it with the doc as compared to the card straight in the USB. Either way it continues to happen

Does anyone with a 595U or 875U ever see their power light switch to red, or orange, just for a second (or half a second, really) at a time, and/or blink back and forth between red and green for a few seconds and then back to solid green? Curious what this might mean re: charge state.

I have not had the lights turn anything but green. Right now I'm at -100db and I would like to try an antenna out. Any suggestions? Sometimes I get NO EVDO and right now i'm at 100. I'm tempted to put a yagi up on a beam on the ham radio tower Wink

Would your powered antenna for the 595U, or perhaps another model, work for my 875U (HSDPA/EDGE)?

a powered usb hub is not what is _on_ your macbook pro... its a separate device altogether that you would have to buy.

its not too late for you to get the u720... you can (and should) buy it from 3gstore.com using our online order form at https://3gstore.com/sprint/cards.php

don't forget to request our free mac preactivation service.

hmm...well, after a day of use, i haven't gotten any problems with the 595U. it seems to work well...am i missing something here? everyone says to go with the novatel 720u but i really don't see the point in switching if it's worked out of the box? (after i downloaded the software)

I am having similar issues. I think I have two seperate problems. One is as you say, everything seems fine but I get no browsing ability. Usually my light stays solid instead of blinking. Ive been able to unplug and restart connection manager to get it too work, but usually I have to reboot my machine.

I also have an internet connection sharing issue. I get the same type problem as above. Everything looks great on the connection manager end. But my browsing stops. I can still ping though. I have found out my client computer still continues to work flawlessly. I figured out last night that if I disable ICS through services, my internet comes back. Very strange. Otherwise I have to reboot my machine and everything works fine, for about a day or so.

I have a Vista machine....wishing I had stayed with XP.

FYI, the booster antenna we sell, does work with HSDPA as well.
we don't have an 875U to test with, but i think its safe to assume its the same antenna jack.
of course, there is the 15 day return policy if it isnt same jack:
