It's nice to be able to tether EVDO phones via bluetooth but BT 1.X is limited to about 300Kbps, well below EVDO's capabilities. You need to do USB tethering to take full advantage of EVDO. BT 2.0 exceeds EVDO performance so will no longer be a bottleneck. You'd need a Bluetooth 2.0 device in your laptop as well.

Looks like a Samsung m610 is on the way. Reports say it has BT 2.0 and EVDO (Rev 0 probably, would be awesome if Rev A), 2Mpix cam and is thinner than Razr. BT 2.0 will also be fast enough to have decent quality BT stereo headphones.

Specs:
* 0.47 inches thick (thinner than the RAZR)
* EV-DO (unknown if Rev 0 or Rev A)
* 2-megapixel camera
* Bluetooth 2.0
* MP3 / A2DP support
* Transflash/microSD memory card slot
* “Document Viewer”

There's been Sprint rollout dates leaked that are sometimes accurate, sometimes a month off or so. The dates I've seen for this phone is December but could be January. It also goes by the name of "Glint".

Google for it.

The potential of BT2.0 will be enormous methinks. Apple should get into BT2.0 with iPod instead of tieing to certain phone models. Would be cool if iPod could stream audio through any BT2.0/EVDO phone.

Yea I was kind of more curious about Sprint's plans for Rev. A headsets. Doesn't seem to be much information coming down the pike at the moment.
