Well I tried upgrading to this card and sprint's computer's will not allow to upgrade to it. That was after about 6 calls to get someone that could even find it...lol. Is there anything that you can do for someone wanting to upgrade to this card? _________________ Peace

Looks like we beat Sprint to their announcement by 5 days
| Quote: | Sprint Launches First EV-DO Revision A-Capable Mobile Broadband Card in the Nation
* Card to support advanced mobile broadband speeds when available in 4Q 2006
* Total mobile broadband footprint to cover 200 million people by year end
Sprint (NYSE: S) and Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL) today announced commercial availability of the country's first EV-DO Revision A-capable device - the Novatel Wireless S720 Sprint Mobile Broadband Card. This milestone follows Sprint's recent announcement that it will begin upgrading the Sprint Power Vision(SM) Network -- the nation's largest wireless broadband network currently covering more than 153 million people - to the faster EV-DO Revision A this year.
Designed for operation with compatible laptops as well as the soon-to-be-available Linksys Wireless G-Router for Mobile Broadband, the Merlin S720 will allow customers to connect to the Sprint Power Vision Network and remotely access audio, video and data applications at DSL-like speeds. The card operates on the current Sprint Power Vision Network and will support faster average download and upload speeds (450 -850 kbps and 300 - 400 kbps, respectively) of Sprint's upgraded network when it becomes available. Sprint plans to begin its roll out of EV-DO Revision A during the fourth quarter of 2006 with coverage expected to reach more than 40 million people by year end. Ultimately, Sprint plans to reach more than 200 million people in the United States with mobile broadband data services in 220 major metropolitan areas by the end of 2006.
"Sprint has reached its next leadership milestone in the mobile broadband arena once again delivering on the goals and promises made to our customers earlier this year" said Danny Bowman, vice president of product marketing for Sprint. "With the introduction of the nation's first EV-DO Revision A-capable device today we are ensuring that customers are able to take advantage of the nation's most advanced mobile broadband network to do what they want, when they want and where they want."
"Being first to market with a commercially available EV-DO Revision A-capable connection card underscores our leadership position and continuing commitment to working with Sprint in serving its customers," said Peter Leparulo, CEO of Novatel Wireless. "By delivering innovative, high-quality EV-Rev. A wireless products, Novatel enables Sprint to provide its customers with industry-leading wireless data capabilities."
The Merlin S720 will initially be sold through Sprint indirect and business sales channels and online at www.sprint.com for a suggested retail price of $249.99 and as low as $99.99 with a two-year subscriber agreement. Service plans for the card currently range from $39.99 per month for 40 MB to $79.99 per month for unlimited data usage. Customers signing a two-year subscriber agreement will be eligible to receive unlimited data usage for $59.99 per month (no separate voice plan required). Sprint plans to make a variety of compatible devices in varying form factors available later this year.
Sprint today has the most wireless broadband coverage of any carrier. The Sprint Power Vision(SM) Network now covers more than 153 million people and services customers in 220 major metropolitan areas. Additional information on Sprint's Mobile Broadband network including coverage maps showing current and future coverage, Mobile Broadband service plans, and the latest access devices can be found at http://powervision.sprint.com/mobilebroadband/. |

Amusing. When will you receive first shipment of orders?
Notice the mention of Linksys router support for Rev A card. Hopefully Kyocera takes notice and ensures that KR1 supports the new card or they'll lose out. |

Hum, wonder what the deal if any for those of us already in the middle of a contract. Could we resign for two years and get the new card for 99?

According to...
http://rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=27184
"The Novatel S720 relies on a Qualcomm Inc. chipset and is claimed to use less power than its predecessors." |

I just purchased the S620 card tonight, and now I come here and read that there's a brand new card already!
I called Sprint and spoke with two dodgy CSRs with little information. It sounds like my only recourse is to bring everything back to the store using the 30-day satisfaction guarantee and then start all over by ordering over the phone.
Unless the card gets to stores soon. Does anyone know when stores may expect to receive it? |

| Well, I just talked to a CSR. For those of us inside a contract we have to pay full retail. Grand. |

Usually, if you are within 6 months of your contract expiring, you can call Sprint and if you extend for another 1 or 2 years, you will get either a $75 or $150 Renewal Credit on your bill. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Yeah, I am in the same boat. Sept 1 is my one year for my 75 credit.
And then after I sell my Aircard 580 on ebay for $40 bucks.

I have a question. I have the merlin s620. if i would get the merlin s720 would i see faster speeds? the speeds i have got with my s620 have been slower then i thought they would be. it is nice to be able to use my laptop about anywhere. I was just wandering if i would see faster speeds by getting the new card.
ive had my card for about 6 months now. if i would get the new card, would i need to do anything special to my old card to sell it on ebay (i know with phones you have them clear esn number). |

You will see faster speed when/if Sprint turns on Rev A in the area(s) you use the card.
If you sell the card I would call Sprint and let them know you are no longer using it so they don't put up a red flag if someone else tries to activate it. I would guess that this would be done automatically if you purchase a new S720 from them.
