Just received our nw KR1 and am trying to configure the router. I have followed the initial setup connecting the router with the ethernet cable to the laptop but the WLAN light is blinking instead of steady. Attempts to launch the setup Wizard by entering the IP address in the browser results in attempt to connect to the Internet with no connection. I turned off the wireless function on the laptop. The browser then asks if I want to work off line or connect. I sure there is something obvious I am missing.

Any ideas?

The WLAN LED blinks constantly by design. Ensure that your Ethernet adapter on your laptop does not have a static IP address assigned to it. If it does, clear those settings out so that it will obtain its address from KR1 via DHCP. Also, because your WiFi card seems to be embedded, ensure that your Ethernet adapter (called Local Area Connection in Windows) is enabled. Sometimes when you use integrated WiFi adapters it disables the Ethernet adapter.

OK thanks for the input. I will try that out this evening. I have recently been using the laptop's built in wireless with our home wireless network but have used the ethernet connection in the past to set up a bridge and another router. Seems that I have gotten into this situation before but don't remember how I got back to being able to communicate via the lan cable to the router or bridge to configure it. I plan on using the KR1 on a auto trip next week since I have a KPC650 since we will have passengers with wireless laptops.

So I tried the recommended changes (still did not work) and then consulted the CD manual. I tried to ping the router and got no connection. Finally I tried my other laptop and ping worked as well as the setup. The WiFi connection is working with both laptops. So far I am impressed with the KR1. Surfing seems to be faster than with the KPC 650 plugged directly into the laptop. Is that possible? Now I need to figure out why the ethernet connection on my older laptop would not working even though it is enabled.

Now I am ready to try this out in my truck operating the KR1 with the 12V adapter.
