Does anyone have an idea on what is going on with the availability of the KR1 Mobile Router? The Kyocera Wireless web site is zero help and currently indicating that the product is coming soon. Yet, it seems like some visitors to the site have been able to order product? Is there another web site or retail outlet where the product might be available?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I just logged onto the Kyocera site and purchased the KR1. I don't know how long the site will remain open this time. The price was 299.00 - 15 % discount for first time purchase+ tax & shipping. |

First thing about the router yes I am happy its available..Butttt
They are not shipping till Thursday. Which means I had to pay $19 Fedex shipping to have it overnight to get friday otherwise not till next.
second when you register they dont give you the 15% discount you have to call customer care back and argue with them for the discount.
Third Coupon Code COMFS only covers Postal Shipping which means 2 weeks or more.
Fourth only good thing they said the $50 rebate is good no matter when you bought the Kyocera Card. I told them I bought 6 months ago they said it didnt matter. They said as long as you have the Card and router you get your $50 rebate
So this is the truth as I experienced it today. I guess I shouldnt get angry but they should have said were not releasing the routers till the Feb 1st. on the website.. Geez bad company already...Yes Flame me...Im mad |

Which of these two works best on the KR1? Which has the better external antenna port? (better in terms of sturdiness/MTBF/availability)

The port is much sturdier on the Merlin S620 and much easier to get adapter cables for |

We had plans to have a KR1 Forum on EVDOforums and provide direct support for the KR1, however at this time, that no longer makes sense. Also, we will not be answering KR1 specific questions. If you need support with your Kyocera KR1, you can call the Kyocera Technical Support line (800-349-4478). For those that purchase your EVDO card from us, we will provide limited support (via email/phone, not Forums) in getting your KR1 running, BUT anything beyond that will be supported directly by Kyocera. |
Michael,
Does this mean that you won't be working on the ability to use a USB GPS receiver with the KR1 ala Stompbox?
Thanks much,

| The wifi is an Atheros mini-pci. I wonder if the firmware would prevent replacing it with a 24db card. Seems to have a free uFL connector on the inside. |

I'm a little disappointed with the launch of the kyocera KR1 for two reasons.
1. I've heard $200 for a long time and now it's $300 - 15%
2. Michael has provided us a site to discuss this technology and has pre-sold many of the KR1's and yet, at this time, can't sell them himself.
I for one can and will wait for Michael to sell them and hopefully closer to the $200 mark.

| They sold out...They dont have any idea when they will get more. I was able to get a Fedex Tracking and they said my order was able to get processed. I know I was piss about the router being $300 too. |
