did you have to do something specific to connect?
I am unable to connect on the XP side either.
I was able to connect once when I first got the card, but no luck since then |

Actually, I just changed my connection from tcp to udp and that seemed to work.
Odd since the first time I connected, I just used the default which was tcp... |

| Okay Just got my verizon express card and went to do some follow up research on this bloody Cisco issue. I need to be able to connect to my corp network right now. If I install the express card I understand that right now there is no fix for the isse with the cisco vpn client software but does the installation of the express card break the client all together? Will I be able to connect to my corp vpn thru wifi or hard ethernet? |

| Well, it hasn't affected my connection through any other method. Worse thing that has happened to me is having to restart the Cisco service (which I usually have to Google for because I always forget the command). |

You will still be able to use your Cisco client via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. The problem is with the V640 card. I use the built-in Apple Driver for the V640, but I can still connect to my corp. network via my other connections.

Well, I opened a TAC case with Cisco. On the phone with them now troubleshooting.
Will update when I get more info....
(update)
Well, it turns out there are two bugs that Cisco is working on with the VPN client on the Intel Macs.
CSCsd51126 (unity mac ppp intel fails with mismatch log message 10.4)
and bug id
CSCsd51157 (unity mac ppp not dynamically discovered consistently on
10.4). |

You were looking at the date I joined the forums. I posted that info yesterday. |

I'm having the same problems as outlined by others on this string....connecting through VPN using the V640. I tried to use a workaround that I needed on my previous Powerbook when using the Kyocera KPC650. It didn't work on V640 either...but did manage to get beyond the error message, before it failed to load. Here is what I used to use with the KPC650:
I opened the terminal and pasted in this command:
sudo /System/Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN/CiscoVPN restart.
Again, this didn't work, but hoped this might point someone with more tech knowledge than me in the right direction. After I figured out the workaround on the previous card, I loved it. Then missed it terribly when I bought the MacBook Pro. I've been waiting anxiously for the express card, but I travel every week and if a workaround can't be found to connecting to my corp VPN, this card will pretty much be useless. If any of you find a solution to this problem....please let us know. Thanks |

i work for cisco and use a mac. the fixed vpn client should be out real soon. a few mac users (including myself) are testing the client right now and it works via my razr and with the v640 from what others report (don't have a v640...yet), whereas the general release version does not work (ver 4.9.00 build 0050).
try to hang on. hopefully it will be posted in the next few weeks. |

A client has a Windows 2003 server with a cisco router with VPN. I use the OS X 4.7 vpn using pptp to connect directly. Is there any advantage to using the Cisco client on a Mac and on Windows rather than the built in vpn? |

Any chance Cisco is looking for beta testers on that new release? I'd love to get my hands on a working client.
((update))
I just verified that VPN Tracker 4 works for me (http://www.equinux.com/us/products/vpntracker/index.html). I do not work for Equinux, but I am considering shelling out the $100 for the client, though.
Any ETA on a release from Cisco? |

| I have been able to make it work with hard wire or 802.11 using the latest Cisco 4.90 client for MAC but still does not work with the Verizon EVDO card. I am working with a tech at Cisco who is indicating that they are working on an update to the client version which will work around this issue. |
